In Amit Aggarwal

Shilpa attended the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards on Thursday evening in Mumbai wearing a one-shoulder Amit Aggarwal gown from the designer’s Winter 2017 collection.

I already loved the gown for its perfect blend of that bust created from recycled plastic and the use of the traditional benarsi silk in a modern way.

Coming back to Ms. Shetty, the silver rings and spiked bracelet were the perfect pieces to pair with the fusion gown, and she looked amazing in it! Love!

  1. As much as I am on board with recycling and reusing, this particular outfit makes her look like she’s wearing a tin drum with a shiny curtain attached.

  2. Haha! What all in the name of recycling! A fit body can never be any excuse for consistent tasteless dressing. Shilpa has no style. I cringe looking at how badly that beautiful silk saree has been messily draped like a lungi. Unimpressive!

    • Agree with every word you said! PayPal, the ingredients of your sore throat meds are taking a toll! Look again, this outfit is awful!

      • This dress or whatever atrocity is this doesn’t make sense. So waist up, Shilpa is ‘going green’ but waist down, she is on board with wearing a weave that required lives of worms to be sacrificed. Hilarious!

  3. Absolutely loving this look. The flowy texture of the gown and the fitted bodice is a great combo. And they way she accedorized them is gorgeous.

  4. The fusion look is different and refreshing change from the sea of gowns and dresses we see on every celebrity. Hats off to Shilpa for carrying it off with aplomb. But of course with that body….

  5. That’s a terrible dress / saree / whatever!!! Why plastic with banarsi silk? It’s like Sambar with your lasagna… I’m just imagining Shilpa draped in 6 yards of that banarsi… She’d look divine…

    • Have you ever tried Sambhar with Lasagna? It’s called being open to new things sweetie. Maybe you will like it Don’t be so judgemental to the point of not enjoying something new. Say what you want but our own Wonderwoman is killing it and that big smile of hers is the sweetest thing. Btw I love her yoga and cookery on YouTube plus her Suuundaaaay Bingeeee. Go girl.

        • Well honey the problem is your views come from without trying it. I say you try the Sambhar and lasagna first before criticizing it. Maybe you can experiment with your looks too instead of sticking to the 6 yards of sari. I know it’s fail proof but have youtried something different in your life?

          • What makes you think a south Indian from the heart of Madras doesn’t know what she’s speaking…. Give it a break…. Each one has been given the freedom to express their views here…. Concentrate on the clothes not others views of them….

        • It’s not about being south Indian or north indian, it’s when you compare clothes literally to food and that too without trying it. Did you call out ak’ s comment about watching superwoman’s chicken tikka lasagna? No! So don’t try to act like a holier than thou when you yourself brought all sort of food items into clothes. I am pretty sure you must have commented Vidya Balan is serving chaat masala in Cannes when she wore a sari there. So all I am saying is don’t be so judgemental.

      • I so agree. She has nailed it though not a fan of that fusion. That smile is so endearing. And her fitness/body , the luscious hair & skin is just wowza.

  6. Fusion is so tricky…chances are it’s going to end up looking costumey but not this…how beautiful does this look..so well blended..and Shilpa did it complete justice…and yeah Shilpa would look great in just a banarsi saree but no harm in experimenting once in a while esp when the occasion calls for it..love it!!!!

  7. Love this experimental outfit and they got a good one to wear it. This is indeed a tricky outfit and few can carry it off without looking out of place. It does bring a lot of the Malay feel with the patterns and material but I’m glad Shilpa experimented with this outfit and came out with flying colors. That is a big award.

  8. I guess I have more appreciation for the creation now, knowing its concept, but doesn’t change the fact that my first impression of Shilpa in it was: Blah, and then: No

  9. Love that color on her. Makes her look like she came out of the deep blue ocean like a mermaid. Great hair, great fitting and great figure. What’s there not to like?

  10. Shilpa was one of the very few to experiment with the sari gown when they first came out and now its a rage. She put Tarun Tahlania’s sari gown on the fashion map when she wore it at her wedding. Give this look a time. I am sure it will be a rage too. Btw I am one who supports those who take fashion risks. Maybe they may fail sometimes but oh the reward is so much more than the failure.

  11. I love it. Just because it’s a national award or a Dadasaheb Phalke award which btw is the only legit award right now does not mean you have to go 100% traditional with ghajras etc all. I do admire how the doutfit brings ethnic wear in a modern way.

  12. i LOVE the sari. It looks very vintage. I was on the fence about the pairing with the bustier, but it seems to work. But the pics I saw elsewhere – the train sweeps the floor and overall makes the look a little messy. Would have liked it to be a bit cleaner waist down. But I have to say this is heavily inspired from Tarun, except for the choice of material. Not much props for design, but give him props for inventiveness wrt the top.

  13. It looks tacky with her hair down. Had she tied her hair up in a simple bun and maybe skipped the bangle, it would have looked nice. As of now, tacky.

  14. Love this classy look. She carried it off with grace panache. Would have loved to see maybe a scorpion hairstyle with it but what the hell her big smile makes up for it.

  15. Guys u have to agree… this is so bad… fusion is ok as long as it doesn’t take away from any original .
Agree with you Vishakha… bad look

  17. Very Nobel design and Shiloa looks amazing as always. Loved that she had a blueeyeliner under her eyes to match the outfit.
