SRK At The Golden Globes: A First Look

Comment image 72

SRK, the ‘King Of Bollywood’, (as the Golden Globes introduced him), presented with Freida Pinto in a suit but weirdly wore a sequin tie inside the shirt! We’d take his velvet ‘Don’ outfit over this any day!

P.S. Gauri was there with Karan Johar in a white sari!

  1. I am heavily biased so I don’t know how much my opinion counts but I think SRK looks really good (dunno why but I can’t use the word “hot” for him, maybe it’s the huge age diff that makes me so uncomfortable :P)

  2. He looks like a damn fool. Why did he dress like that? He may end up on some of the worse dress list. And his comment on pelvis thrusting was tacky.

Why did he spoil his moment in the spotlight?

  3. Seriuosly, this little snag could be overlooked in the wake of excellent presentation by SRK. Let’s not trivialize it because they are better things to discuss ;given the fact horrible horrific looking and dressed up Mickey Rourke was there.

  4. oh I LOVED the sequinned tie! Shah Rukh made it look like a kewl cravat.
And he looked so, so yummy and gracious and corrected the ‘rooman’ gaffe by so politely stressing on Rahman’s name.
Ooh, I cant stop gushing. SRK, we LOVE you :-)

  5. Damn, he looks good. Granted, I have only seen these screenshots, but still.

I don’t care that the tie was inside the shirt for a formal affair. (The sequence, I’m not too hot about.) He looks different than most of the other guys with the suit and ties.

Or maybe it’s cause it’s SRK.

Robert Downey Jr. gets the same props from me cause I adore him, no matter how wacky.

  6. naaah… he looked fine. i’m glad he didn’t go with the ‘propah’ look. he showed some attitude just like a couple of my favs – downey & depp
    RAHMAN WON peeps. yipppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
& srk – tryly, truly the King!

  8. It was worth the wait. I was watching the telecast just to see him and he did a fantastic job representing India. I wish he had left out the pelvic thrust part too…but I am sure he made some Hollywood actors sit up and notice! Way to go SRK!!

  9. I love SRK for carrying off just about everything whether its his sequined tie or supposedly tacky pelvic thrust comments! love him for not taking himself too seriously!

  10. He presented very well.

    And I love, love him

But these stills look better than he looked on TV.

I am hoping it was my TV.

The sequinned tie was tacky and the hairline looked .. I dont know… painted on.

    I still LURVE him.

And Frieda Pinta looked lovely as usual.

  11. Lol! why everyone wants him to look so uniform like the HW people. He stood out and was noticed me thinks even if I am not a huge fan of the tie.

SRK, you represent Yaar. It felt good to see him and Anil and AR Rahman also .

  12. i want to say i hate the tie inside the shirt cuz the idea is ridiculous
    but damnnnn he looks gooood
what did he do – suddenly looks years younger!

and my girl crush on frieda continues (inspite of the weird shape of the dress) – neck up she always looks WOW

  13. It’s nice of him to try something different but a sequined tie? c’mon! he looks quite tanned as well…perhaps it’s the california sun. I think he presented well. it was funnny to hear them announce “the king of bollywood” also funny was how they mispronounced “Rahman” who was very nervous on stage…he better prepare for a good oscar speech if he gets nominated.

anil kapoor was jumping like a monkey when the best director danny boyle was on stage.
I wish Shahrukh wore a normal tie with buttoned up shirt and wish Freida wore a saaree.

but the worst dress in my opinion was RENEE ZELLWEGER!!

It was really great to see Kate Winslet win that too twice!!! my favorite actress she is.

now i MUST watch slumdog. my frens say it’s overhyped movie but we’ll see.

  14. OK, I just saw the SRK part on tv live. Can I retract my previous comment? He did not look gorgeous. He looked very tired, & he was sweating profusely (and looked nervous though he’s good at disguising it). He has looked better before. Yah, that’s all!

  15. Kayshika and Megha pretty much summed up my sentiments exactly.

Do try to get stills of Gauri and Karan! [I’m lame and slept through the golden globes… still so bitter about that!]

  16. God he looked good up there! He is just too witty and endearing for anyone to really notice what he’s wearing. Dare i say he looked better than Leo(who is much younger) or Brad Pitt (who is around the same age)!!

  17. I think he looked great, really good speaking on stage – Frieda wish she’d worn Indian or atleast had some indian influence rather than couture that didnt look all that..
Would REALLY like to see a pic of Gauri and Karan – bet she looked fab :)

  18. Ah, he looks amazing. I agree that the tie inside the shirt makes him look slightly less perfect – but its his style yaar. I mean if he showed up in a normal black suit with a white shirt – he’d just blend into the audience. The fact that we are all talking about the tie means he made a fashion point :)

  20. he somehow just makes it work… everytime.. he looks so cute… just love him.. more so bcoz he could stand up there and be his witty n suave self..

  21. He was graceful in his speech and kept it upbeat and made his presence felt. That is all that matters. Great night for India and yes AR Rahman was cute and shy. Wish we have a better picture of him here. He deserves it!

  22. Dude I had heard about the pelvic thrust comment before I actually watched the clip on youtube.. and it was totally fine. I dono why people are tripping. People alwayyss over analyze whenever an Indian shows up on national tv. It’s like our thing. So sick of it!

  23. LOL, ditto whoever said Karan Johar dressed him – it’s the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw the sequined tie inside the shirt. Still, I’m so proud of my Bollywood. How cute was Anil Kapoor jumping up and down cheering for Danny Boyle??

  24. I think SRK looked soooo cute and adorable. You could see how protective he was being of Frieda. I think he was so gracious and certainly represented Bollywood real well. I was jumping with joy when Slumdog beat out all the others for best screenplay, best director and best movie..Kudos to A R Rahman who was so shy and cute on stage. Now if Taare Zameen Par wins the foriegn category and Slumdo the Oscars, it is a good start for India..
@scribebollywood – Anil Kapoor was cute when he was jumping up and down for Danny Boyle.

  25. I think he looks good for two reasons – firstly, its different to what everyone else was wearing at the awards (I say it like I was actually there to witness it. I wasn’t but its a fair guess!), which you have to admit is a tough for men, and secondly, its in keeping with the relatively relaxed atmosphere of the golden globes (vs the more ‘uptight’ academy awards).

  26. I honestly don’t think anything is wrong with his sequined tie! That was the last thought on my mind on the night when Indian celebrities were on spotlight in Hollywood. I think we should all be happy about Slumdog Millionaire sweeping all its nominations and that are desis are in limelight. SRK and Freida did a great job of presenting!

  27. I know this comment doesn’t belong here, but did anyone see Johnny Depp present one of the sections?…i wanted to lick my TV screen! Yummy! And now, just to make this comment relevant..Shahrukh did great!

  28. His tie looks like woven leather – I’m not seeing sequins for some reason and I love how he wasn’t going to be upstaged by the newcomer – pelvic thrusting was a smart tactic.

  29. PnP I thought the message board would have crashed or something for this pic… :)
Shahrukh was uber-cool! Freida was all smiles and blushing and both spoke so confidently. Watching the GG was worth this short clip, I stopped after seeing this!

  30. Taare Zameen Par isn’t even nominated yet for the Oscars (Oscars noms are announced Jan 22). It has no chance mainly b/c at all the pre-cursor to the Oscar awards (i.e. Critics Choice, NY, LA, Golden Globes) it was not part of any of the 5 foreign films nominated! TZP has pretty much no chance. Getting an oscar nomination is a campain. Studio’s and Producers campaign very hard to get the movie attention in the summer and early fall. By mid fall when nominations are announced for various award shows, Studio’s and Producers bear the fruit of their campain. By the time Oscar nom’s are announced, its pretty much obvious who will get nominated b/c its usually all the films that have already been nominated at various other awards shows through the season.

  33. AAArrrghhh! I wish I had taped the Golden Globes ceremony!!!! I’ve missed everything now!! ok sob moment over…

SRK looks good face-wise, not too sure about the tie, I agree it could be just to look different but maybe he could have been more traditional either in the western style or the indian style, poor Frieda got such an ugly gown, the colour is not even that great and she should have styled her hair differently.

  34. SRK was awesome!! He looked great, emphasized Indian cinema and had some fun…all while trying to ease Freida Pinto’s nerves. Very cute and comlpete gentleman! (though I wish he had acknowledges Anil K waving at him! :-) )

  35. gorgeous.

perhaps the tie would have looked better had he buttoned up to make it appear more cravath-like. but hey, i’m not complaining if srk wants to leave a few buttons undone.

dammit, now i feel like watching an srk movie…

  36. o c’mon grow up some of you. the sequined tie inside the shirt is so in your face and full of attitude. no wonder he looked dapper and different from the others who kind of wear the same thing everytime. besides golden globes are more relaxed and not so formal as the odcars, so the look was perfect. his presentation was witty, charming and cute. he looed much better than brad who for some reason was not happy about being there. i guess wanted that angie to win. thank god she didn’t. and i really want him to get rid of that beard, why anil looked better than brad. ha ha.

  37. That tie has to GO! It is sooooo wrong! Shah Rukh and his big International Awards debut and the tie killed it all! Horrific! Karan’s been hanging around the clothes rail again! Oh yea and what was with the ‘Pelvic thrusting’ comment?

  38. The gown looks apt for the awards. Not ultra glam..but just right. Enjoy the glory, Frieda. You are one lucky girl! Home run with her very first film.

  39. I love you SRK! Had to say it. I have not seen the telecast yet and can’t wait to. I actually liked it that he did not dress too conservatively and showed his casual different side. Love u. U are adorable and perfection in so many different ways.
