While at a recent event, Laila paired her sari with a Sabyasachi blouse and Payal paired hers with a blouse of her own design. It was easy to pick Payal as the favorite.
As much as I love the combination of the plain black sari with that Sabya blouse, I really, really dislike the Ameesha Patel school of sari draping style.

Interesting draping of the sari on the right…love the colors, and it definitely looks better than Laila Lamba’s. Can’t really see the details of Payal’s sari too well but from here it looks very different and ethnic. Hands down more appealing than Laila’s which looks quite lackluster.
sorry for me personally neither is Payal’s Kalllol Datta School of “Just drape yards around you and call it a design” blouse is not working either!!

Agree. That blouse cloth thingy is looking quite odd. Why not keep it simple
+1.. Girls, I know these are personal views but at times I do feel that anything more traditional is given a pass.. Payal is wearing too many accessories, saree is draped badly, blouse would be interesting with jeans maybe? is too busy with the saree.. laila’s looking awful.. too much make up on top of the awful drape
So agree. Neither sari drape, nor the blouse, nor pretty much any of her designs.
I love how you termed it “Ameesha Patel school of sari draping style”. I totally agree. Perhaps laila thought that she needs to show off the blouse since paid a hell of money for it. It totally looks tacky.
