Wearing their festive best, the Tendulkars attended the Mehta-Ambani wedding and later, the reception in Mumbai. Which of the two looks do you like more?

  1. Oh my Lord, she looks so lovely and appeasing to the eyes in the first sari. I can’t remember the name/style of this sari. I can’t take my eyes off her.

  2. A pink blouse with the yellow saree and a matching pajama for Sachin in the first picture wilould have taken this look up several notches.

  3. She scores 10/10 for that black saree, my favorite from the entire two day monstrosity of an event. SO LOVELY! And elegant and classy and dignified

  4. While the work on many outfits is exquisite I simply don’t understand why gold encrusted clothes have taken over as Indian wear for celebs. Its overkill and rarely subtle. So its good to see rich and diverse sarees on a few. Anjali Tendulkar looks very elegant. The first is Gujarat patola? Cant tell. The second seems like a paithani.

  5. The black sari reminds me so much of the sari Gursharan Kaur wore beside PM Manmohan Singh to the US State Dinner for India in 2009. The evening look is far better and very classy.

  6. Anjali is a classy and dignified lady, unlike the tasteless and ostentatious Bollywood. The black sari is my favourite look from both these events.

  7. How these looks stand out in the sea of Gota patti monstrosity that we’ve seen in the last couple of days!!!! She looks amazing in both those looks, but liked the black paithani look a little more.

  8. Anjali is the best dressed at these 2 events. As always our Indian handlooms with classy drape beats the “designer wear”. She looks radiant and pretty.

    • I really hope the black paithani is not from a “designer” but either directly from a weaver OR from a regular Laxmi Road, Pune sari shop which bought it from a wholesaler in Aurangabad (who bought it from a weaver for a fair price). It looks traditional and she looks lovely in it. Ditto for the patola. She needs some bronzer or is that flash? Sachin needs to up his “lets button that shirt” game. A tie would have been nice with that nice non -trendy suit. They still knock it outta the park in lovely understated ways.

  9. so pleased to see her wearing handlooms. THIS is what shuold be showcased and promoted before all art is lost and only gaudy and cheesy designer labels are left.

  10. It is so sad that in a Gujarati wedding we see only one Patola and a paithani on a guest. In 10 yrs time looking back these will be the only ones looking timeless. One can mix and match outfits to wear trendy but for the actual ceremony better to stick to the timeless and traditional. I am glad South Indians are still sticking to the Kanchis for the wedding though even those are being mauled by tasteless embellishments.

  11. The Gujarati Ambanis are not wearing Patola for any of the weddings, but Anjali is wearing Patola sari with Gujarati sari drape. The woman has classy taste.
