Richa, who is in Melbourne attending the Indian Film Festival for her movie Love Sonia, wore a Raw Mango blouse and skirt for the opening press meet and then a concept sari by Sreya Samanta for the screening of the movie.

I know the sari may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it isn’t mine as well, but I did like that she tried it. What went wrong was the short pallu. It didn’t fall properly to give off that casual vibe and hence just looked awkward.

As for the Raw Mango outfit, wearing the shirt buttoned up with the neckpiece over it might have made for a more impactful look.

  1. Sorry, what is that ‘concept saree’ in 3 different shades of blue with a tea towel thrown over the shoulder and paired with ugly tan boots?

  2. Does Richa sleep walk her way through the “getting ready” process?
There’s always something off or unfinished in all her looks- the hair awkwarding covering her eye/ the boots/ that drape.

  3. Like those stupid sunglasses, concept sarees also need to go. It’s insulting that India and its saree wearing neighbours have a ton of saree draping styles to choose from and promote and yet here we are.

(I just woke up and not had coffee yet, can you tell?).

  4. This concept of a Saree is seemingly much influenced by the ever so graceful mekhola. Why change something already so darn good. I do wish mekholas would get more love.

  5. She looks ridiculous in the *whatever* sari. And thats nothing new. It looks like the ladies mundu-blouse with a thorthu(common in few parts of Kerala). No idea whats so conceptual about it.

    • nothing wrong with the mundu, it is ethnic, beautiful and unique to a particular region of our country, so please do n0t insult the mundu by condescendingly referring to it.
