Sari Style

Comment image 17

It was such a delight to see Revathi at the audio launch of Brahmotsavam. The actor looked lovely in her matka silk jamdani. I didn’t quite like the hoop earrings here but that sari, so love!

(Feel free to correct me if I got the sari style wrong. Politely. Having lived in the US for the most part of my life, no, I don’t know all my sari styles but I am making a conscious effort to learn and wear! :) )

  1. Classy lady!

Payal..feel bad that you had to mention “Politely.” I have been observing that some of the ladies can be very harsh when they don’t agree with the opinion/observation of others. Polite disagreement would be a refreshing and welcome change.

  2. This does look like a Bengal silk. Nice to see Revathi. Don’t worry PnP baby steps is fine. Often weaves are mixed up now, even hardcore sari wearers cannot always tell.

    Typo, it should be style.

      • Agree Payal! To have true gender equality in the workplace there should be no distinction in title or profession.

      • Why borrow the masculine term, then? Wouldn’t a gender neutral term like performer be more preferable? And in some professions, gender matters, most obviously in acting. Unless you are gifted with androgynous looks, men cannot play female characters and vice versa. So the mention of one’s gender in this context seems harmless to me.

  4. Lovely saree indeed. Wish she has some colour (even with a pottu) or a necklace. But she looks lovely nevertheless.

  5. Very elegant and natural. She looks lovely though I would have liked to see a pop with a brighter lipstick or some jewellery.
I think the saree is a Bailou – it has jamdani work in the pallu and the body is matka like you say.
