Party Time!

Ranveer’s sister hosted a bash for the newly weds on Saturday evening which saw Ranveer wear custom Manish Arora and Deepika in Sabyasachi.

Loved seeing the two having a bit of fun before the second round of receptions.

    • P&P obviously are partial towards Deepika and Ranveer to call this fun because this is really WTHEYY funny. With the betaal effect, Marilyn Manson looks and the forced expressions, they are both Halloween ready for 2019!!

      • Their look was supposed to be quirky to fit in the theme of Ranveer’s side of the family’s party. You can just imagine how crazy and out of the box the party must have been. Therefore their outfits are fun! It’s hard to do wild with traditional wedding attire and they have managed it. I don’t think we are supposed to take this too seriously, or else why do you think they released such pictures with wierd effects. I think a lot of people are missing the point. :)

    • I understand the general opinion here about people not liking this look. The way I interpreted this as sis throws a brother a party and she obviously knows him well and has chosen craft whimsical theme that must mean something to her bro. The wife plays along and goes whimsical with the exaggerated veil etc.,

  1. Sabya is lucky to have Deepika selling it. Without her this is tapestry cloth onto which Frida flowers and a veil has been added.

Manish Arora is not my cup of tea but costume looks fun and goes with Ranveer.

      • The flowers really bothered me. Buds would have been so beautiful – nice pink ones with a bit of green interspersed to make it ethereal (which is a look Deepika does really well). Instead, this was far too heavy with too many competing factors that didn’t work on their own, much less together (that eye makeup needs to be a good one inch thinner in width).

      • Seriously… wat an overdose of flowers on the lehenga, the top and all the way on head as a huge headband. It really looks made up, so not good to rely on a designer so much for your wedding day.. he’s made it into a promotional opportunity! What takes these guys to s’sachi ?? Gaudy lehengas n sad faced models. They could have tried Tarun Tahiliani, ritu Kumar’s, Rohit bal.. they do some fab wedding wear.

  2. Bar dancer Chameli bra and petticoat made out of cottage sofa material with Freida Kahlo flowers and diaphanous veil… No, just no. Not quirky, not fun. Just forced. Ranveer looks like he is enjoying his clothes. His presentation suits Manish Arora’s design aesthetic.

  3. I like the lehenga but just wished that the dupatta had been draped more casual. Also I would have liked to see loose hair on her with the rose hairband. This look is a little too editorial to be a fun reception/party outfit.

  4. And not a word about styling? This is just terrible!! The Sabya outfit and the Frida Kahlo-esque styling did not need the veil AND the choker. The raccoon eyes bring it down several more notches! Its overkill! A better version (dress) of this was presented on Harper’s Bazaar June 2018 cover by Kangana Ranaut where the makeup was subdued and let the wonderful design do the talking which was much classier.

Less said about Ranveer the better. More is really not better even if its a wedding (2 weeks long festivities, one must add) whether groom or bride.
And what is the need for so many posts on the same wedding of the same 2 people and permutations/combinations of Sabya and handful of other designer outfits. not much would have been lost if it were all in 1 or 2 posts…

    • I just checked out Varun Bahl’s 2016 collection, it’s beautiful and I unfortunately agree with you. I had hoped that Sabya was coming from a good place in terms of promoting hand made craftsmanship but now I wondering whether that too is just a gimmick to make money.

    • I knowwwww! There are so many more fab designers out there who make exquisite looking bridal wear. But celebs are going for the same ol’ boring designs. All the brides shown in WedMeGood look better than these celebs. I also have a feeling Deepika was too lazy to research and go to multiple designers so opted for the one everyone’s going for nowadays :)

P.S. No I do not work for WedMeGood.. Just saying I am more awed by non-celeb brides who actually (beautifully) experiment..

  5. It was a gothic themed party and Deepika apparently portrayed Frida Kahlo, therefore the flowers on top of her hair. They should have made this fact public because like everybody I too kept calling the look wtheyy for a long time!

  6. This is just too much. The constantly choreographed and curated picture releases periodically and same old boring style. Sonam and Anushka had a natural feel and normal lovely styling. Well to each their own, and I find this too much. Like a Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie promotion.

    • Pretty sure there’s a commercial angle to this approach, as evidenced by Sabya posting about the bespoke Loub jootis made for them on Insta. None of the pics look organic, rather they look heavily stylized and curated.

  7. Loving this. Manish Arora and Ranveer Singh are an unparalleled match. Though Deepika’s look is straight out of a Sabya catalogue yet I am just happy coz she at least changed it up. She looks amazing.

  8. The clothes seem too dramatic and heavy for a cocktail/dance party.. Something more breezy and laid back classy would have worked wonders… Like a boho gown or a something less cover page shoot kinds..

Can’t imagine dancing in these clothes in this hot weather.. must be Aircon full blast..

  9. I def think she could have ditched the veil and the Indian jewelry that’s complete with heavy bangles, to have been able to make this look work.
Or a different hairstyle (perhaps let down with the braid and flowers) and the veil carried casually would have been better to make it less of a failed fusion.
The Indian freida look isn’t working in my opinion.

  10. And they have 2 more receptions to go in Mumbai….. Unless they are calling their milkman, their drivers and their extended families to the reception, can’t imagine they have so many acquaintances who cannot fit into a single reception.

    • I’m no celebrity but even I had 3 wedding receptions (one at my home town , one at at the city we are currently living and the other at my husband’s hometown). So I don’t know why people are bashing them for all the receptions they are having. They had one at DP’s hometown, two more reception at Mumbai one for Ranveer’s family and the other for bollywood. This is not a reception but an informal party Ranveer’s sister threw for the couple.

  11. Sabya got to style Deepika from head to toe and he just copies and pastes this look off the model.. he posted this same lehenga on 20 october – one month before Deepika’s reception. Seriously? the guy could not come up with something special for her? he even copied Anushka’s reception look to the t for Deepika’s reception except for the colour of the saree. And I agree with the commentor above, their photoshoot and orchestrated photos and releasing them is weird. Sonam and Anushka’s felt more genuine in many ways.

  12. She is a tall woman, well suited for this heavy lehenga, which on most people, would drown them. I think her own wedding is where she can wear whatever style aesthetic she wants. What I love is how much carefree, almost quirky fun she seems to be having, owning whatever she wears, be it big flowers hair band or curtain material dress.

  13. The outfit may have worked with smaller flowers like many pointed above. On the other hand, given the overload of flowers already in the costume, why did it need to be presented on the head as well ? Such an odd styling.. Makeup is brilliant.

    • I agree, I feel they are really celebrating their wedding as they want ! They don’t care two hoots on what people think they should wear or not on their own wedding ,how to celebrate it and how many times they want to party or reception ( Including all the ‘vishesh tipanni’ in this forum on every post about their wedding celebrations ) . I truly admire them so much for being complete bindaas!

      • Wel, if that were the case, they wouldn’t be drip feeding the public with heavily posed and touched up pictures, while Sabya keeps tagging the designers. They care more than two hoots.

        • Seriously.. its Soo made up, still many post wedding functions to go. the stars are taking peer pressure so seriously, considering some beautiful pictures from previous 2 big weddings. Maybe they don’t care, or they do, it’s not bad either ways..

        • Dear Aunty acid, they are updating their Instagram and sharing their wedding like countless other people ….why bother to see when you don’t like it? It’s their wedding , they don’t need approval of the ‘public’ for what to wear, how to pose, how to photograph or when to share pictures !

          • Oh but they do, else how will their stature as big-time celebs be maintained? They could have had a completely private wedding or released a couple of ‘normal’ pictures.

  14. The strategically posed and timely released photos by Sabyasachi just makes it seem like a big Sabyasachi promotional campaign than anything else.

  16. Sabya did a great injustice to Deepika. I have seen several girls planning for their clothes for pre wedding, wedding day and post wedding festivities painstakingly so they stand out on their special day. But here Sabya seems to have recycled some of the clothes he had been designing since a decade. Some clothes/fabric were spotted on other celebs at different events. Couldn’t Sabya create something very special for Deepika for her wedding and post wedding? As every day women we try to change up our hair for special occasions. The hair style, the clothes, the whole Sabya styling here is such a huge let down.
