In Vivienne Westwood
Wearing a custom light lilac skirt suit by Vivienne Westwood, Priyanka attended the wedding of Meghan and Harry on Saturday in London. A Philip Treacy hat and jewelled ankle-strap pumps (Manolos?) finished out her look.
I will admit, I again had high expectations already about her appearance and have to say I am underwhelmed. The custom suit felt too stuffy and the color totally washed her out. Especially when you saw some other guests and know that there really wasn’t a dress code.

Dowdy outfit and obnoxious see-through shoes. Ew.
It is time for a change .once one is properly dress is what matters.a season for every thing under the sun.white and black now joined together.that’s God doing and is wonderful.
whaatt…??
She actually looked pretty darn good to me. The suit was a great color and fitted her nicely.
No way..Uhh ohh, that was my first thought. . she looks dowdy.. after looking at other guest pictures, she really looks stuffy n the dress ages her. She could have opted for a simple sheath dress.. Also the color washes her out..n that one shoulder show was downright tacky..I love what Amal Clooney was wearing..
I think Amal was the best dressed in yellow how lovely she looked
Worst was Victoria Beckham in black !!! Seriously I thought she was attending a funeral
Dowdy is the word. The colour and the cut does nothing to her. Its actually a below average look in all respect. Hardly worthy of a royal wedding. DISAPPOINTED.
There WAS a dress code. The women were told to wear “day dresses”.
Priyanka looks amazing! Love the look! Less is more at these type of events so I didn’t find it underwhelming at all… it’s actually perfect. Priyanka looks classy and royal herself tbh
You need to see her earring girl. I think they were the worst part. Pics are all over instagram
She looks fabulous
Agree, she is such a beautiful woman with access to so many designers and this is what she comes up with. It looks really dated, Totally disappointed!
Her feet busting out of those shoes! The whole look head to toe just wasn’t suiting her. So much for all that talk of her being bridesmaid too!
Royal bridesmaids are girls under the age of 10. Anyone speculating her as a bridesmaids were just dumb… Priyanka never said she was.
Pippa was Kate’s bridesmaid, and was well above the age of 10.
Maid of honor. Which Megan chose not to have any cuz she didn’t want to pick any one of her friends over others.
Pippa was Maid of Honour which Meghan chose not to have because she couldn’t pick just one friend. Royal bridesmaids are under the age of 10
I completely agree. The color was looked so washed out that it made her look very tiered and pale. I couldn’t take my eyes off Amal clooney’s and her dress. Wish Priyanka would have opted for a brighter shade of lavender.
Ya Amal looked great, and Victoria
Priyanka > Victoria
I hate the suit, especially the color. It does nothing for her and I don’t think the pumps fit her feet right either. And I agree, compared to other guests, this was such a boring suit to pick.
I agree with P and P. The suit looked I’ll fitted and she looked stuffy. I wish she had gone the Pippa Middleton road. Overall she was appropriately dressed so nothing wrong with the look per se.
I was very excited to see what PC will wear for the occasion!I don’t mind the shoes and color but I don’t like how the top fits, it is quite unflattering. Love the hat though :)
She looks tacky… especially the shoes!
It’s impossible to be this tacky but she did it! Fugliest fascinator I’ve seen!
Those shoes look so tacky!
priyanka disappointed me big time..She could have made it a bit more fun..Anyways congratulations to the Royal couple. I hope you will cover Meghan too :)
She should have opted for a chiffon/organza floral print dress from Erdem.
Sigh. She has the world at her feet – and THIS IS what she comes up with?!?!?! So stuffy, and uptight. A flowy dress could have done wonders on her. Abigail in that spotty dress was 10000% better!
What a real disappointment . Oh and how painful would that walk been – ouch. He feet are pouring out of her shoes.
Amal was one of the best dressed guests. But Meghan – wow! She was so gorgeous, so simple and really let herself shine through!!!!
PC (OK VW) thought it was a 80s-90s themed wedding. Or maybe PC watched too many of the Raj themed movies. Disappointing.
Shoes are Jimmy Choo x Off-White
Awful outfit in terms of color and fit. Because of the color and perhaps the fitting, it looked wrinkled in some light (even though it probably wasn’t) and her shoes were too tawdry for a royal wedding.
I loved the way she was dressed. The lavender outfit with purple toned make up and the stunning hat made for a striking appearances, the head shots were really beautiful.
I think as an Indian, the expectations are always to bring color – Priyanka has opted for subtle tone. Perhaps, most of Megan’s Hollywood friends were cognizant of her unusual showbiz background, noticed almost all her friends were in Navy, peach and lavender color palettes.
Considering it was a summer day event, this being England the sunlight is completely different, it wasn’t her own shaadi and English royalty was getting married, she made a great choice. Vivienne Westwood was a nod to irreverent Brit design, the outfit was classy but not boring, and the miliniery was exceptional. The shoes could have possibly been different, but with that radiant makeup and her inherent poise, Priyanka looked outstanding.
Well said, I completely agree!
This appearance of hers left me cold. Was I the only one who was hoping for a handloom saree in some lovely summer shade? I definitely saw one lady sitting in the pews wearing a light pink one with some pearls and she looked smashing. It was a wonderful chance to showcase some of our classic heritage. After all if she can wear Indian crafted embroidery on her Ralph Lauren Met Gala gown then why not wear it on a saree here?
Was there Indian crafted embroidery on her Met Gala gown?and a sari would have stuck out like a sore thumb,no offence.
Actually an Indian guest representing some charity wore a sari with silver jhumkis and she stood out in the best possible way.
Yes. She is suhani jalota, the founder of a charity which sponsered the wedding.
The wedding wasn’t sponsored by any charity.
Sponsored the wedding? I don’t think so…
Manali, you need to be informed. Read news and update yourself with current affairs. Dont make statements when you do not know what you are talking about. Certain charitable organisations were invited at the Royal Wedding and instead of requesting gifts for themselves, the guests to the wedding were requested to donate to these charities which the Royal couple support.
Yes. She had said so in her youtube interview on the red carpet. I respectfully disagree about the sari. There were at least a couple of other women there and IMO they looked gorgeous representing their country of origin.
What is this compulsion to put a sari on every Indian woman at every international event? Saris are beautiful but neither appropriate nor necessary for absolutely everything. And it’s not like there is a pressing need to preserve our cultural heritage either. How often do we see Japanese celebrities in kimonos or German women in dirndles. It’s alright to wear western clothes at western events. These people are individuals representing themselves, not their country.
I went to Eastern Europe to attend medical school in a university that boasted of students from numerous countries and what I saw was that on every fancy event organised in the uni, every student wore their own particular national outfits and looked colourful and classy with everybody else appreciating them for it. Let’s just agree to disagree, shall we?
And as regards kimonos and dirndls, there has to be a reason why they are not really worn by the native women on a day to day basis anymore whereas the saree is actually a daily wear garment for a majority of Indian women still, right?
But just because women wear them on a daily basis doesn’t imply that a guest to the wedding should wear a Saree.
Do all Desi ladies abroad wear sarees to all weddings they attend? Not all important events call for a display of Indian handlooms. Do we have the same rules for men?
We should stop projecting our wish lists on to celebrities. She wore what probably worked with her mien for the wedding. It is understated, soft colour – as the Hollywood guests she probably didnt want to stand out. Look at what Oprah wore.
This faux pretentious patriotism with Indian clothes needs to end. Indians DO NOT need to wear ethnic clothes to ‘represent’. She’s at her friend’s wedding. She is not there on behalf of India promoting cultural tourism.
We need to stop making Indian women feel obliged to dress up in a sari or ghagra to represent Indian culture. Your values and attitude do a thousand fold more service. Wear what you want, wear it with confidence and joy and you’ll be an unforgettable trendsetter.
I totally agree with the point you are making here :)
+1
PC can wear whatever she wants so must any woman at any event.
Wow, these are the EXACT words I use usually whenever there are comments about women having to wear sarees at every goddamn function/ event.
I would like to believe that every person on this site, least of all me, supports a person’s right to wear what they please, wherever and whenever they want. But just as a person has the right to decide their clothes, every person has the right to express their opinion in a civilised and respectful manner, whether such an opinion be in favour of or against. IMO telling somebody that their opinion is non consequential or plain wrong is as bad as dictating a grown person’s wardrobe choices.
And with that, I shall bow out of this discussion.
Love saris but not compulsory to wear to a wedding imo. Not like PC wears saris daily anyway. Neither is sari the traditional dress of Punjab.
Cultural nods are not obligatory, if so everyone from Meghan Markle to Amal should have incorporated it in their attire. A guest in India may wear a sari in honour of the culture of the bride, nothing wrong with PC making a similar gesture when abroad. She is not representing India after all, she is there as a close pal of the bride.
The dress code was SUMMER DRESS – does saree qualify for that? Being an Indian doesn’t mean she has to be the flag bearer of Indian wear everywhere she goes.
Those are ugly shoes, my goodness….and the dress fits her so badly. There is nothing to like here. On another note, Amal Clooney looked amazing. I think I liked her outfit the best.
Disappointing. The color is washing her out and jacket is giving me major 80s vibe. Don’t like the neckline neither. But the hat is fab!
She looked pretty darn good on TV, these pictures don’t do the look justice.
+1
I had no issues about her dress and hat and thought she looked great in it. But the shoes , oh the shoes were a tackfest !
Amal, Victoria Beckham and Suits actress Sarah Rafferty looked fantastic in their looks and Meghan looked gorgeous of course.
This colour does no good to warm undertoned people like pc..She could have chosen a teal or navy, tea length dress!
She looked great on tv… the suit fit nicely but i didnt like the shoes.
But Amal Clooney… all eyes on her! Wow
Meghans bridal was perfect for her..chic, modern with a traditional touch.
Look like she went by some code written somewhere on how to dress for such occasions…. She does seem to own the overall look!
Every part of this is TACKY !
The Shoes..
The colour is giving a shiny tacky vibe!
Now because ofthe above two, even the Hat looks tacky!
And yes, I agree, she could have worn something like a pastel toned pure chiffon saree with pearls( like indian royalties do).. what a sight would that have been! Alas!
I wish she just wore a dress in that beautiful lavender colour. The top and skirt plus the jacket makes it too stuffy for the spring weather.
Tacky look overall. Why is the suit so stuffy? She should have worn something breezy with summer colors AND light makeup. The makeup looks too heavy for the setup ( Day, summer and royal wedding). Not classy at all, Priyanka. She rarely dissappoints so ok :)
I loved Peppa’s look.
Lilac is a spring color.
Terrible terrible terrible! The only good thing to come out of this mess is the fact that she embraced her lovely, risky skin colour.
Lovely *dusky* skin colour
Amal is highly chic and well Priyanka is always tacky…… ugggh…….. no comparison.
Vivienne Westwood? More like Primark!!! Tacktastic to the T. Besides, this ages her enough to look like camilla’s lady in waiting.
Lol
I think she did good, though it gave me a grandma vibe :p.
By the way ,is indian media crying wishing Taimur got invited ???
She looks like she is headed to a job interview.
Not like every Indian needs to wear a saree, but that would have been awesome if she did. But alas, here she walks on very ill fitting unnecessary blingy shoes.
I am not a fan of the dress. It does look stuffy and does nothing for her complexion. The shoes arent great either. But the truth is, at the end of day, it’s her attending the royal wedding and not us. So, let’s just be happy for her. And congrts to the newlyweds!
Janina Gavankar she looked nice Priyanka should have took advice from her. She looked frumpy.
This suit had too much thing going on
The make -up n hair also ages her.
I in fact loved this look
I think it was simple and classy at the same time … lovely color and beautiful hat !! I see nothing wrong with this look
Jimmy Choo shoes
So disappointed. This is such a boring look. It doesn’t suit her at all. She looks dated and the colour completely washed her out.
It’s a big miss. When the whole world is watching, and she had the whole world to chose from..she came up with this , it is such a let down.
I am really amazed with all these comments. She looked absolutely beautiful. The thought that because you are Indian you always have to do a pip of color I am not sure is applicable to this day and age . It was a stuffy occasion so she dressed appropriately. It was feminine with those cuts and the color and still showed her personality with the earrings and The hat was really nice.
Priyanka is one beautiful woman! I thought she looked quite fabulous, and that walk of hers exuded pride and confidence. It is refreshing to see a woman of today wearing elegance and not some ultra tight, boob, butt and thigh showing schmata that seems to be all the rage! The subtle lilac shade against her beautiful skintone worked for her, wherein on a paler complexion it would have been totally lost. She was in no way trying to upstage the bride and I appreciate her quiet elegance. Priyanka compares herself to no one, and that is as it should be.
Ouchhhhh! I feel blisters coming on just seeing her in those shoes.
Tacky
Priyanka looked beautiful and appropriately dressed. I bet she had some Prince spell bound too.
Looks like Shakuntela is active on this page also, commenting under different names supporting her queen Pri. Doesn’t she have a life or is she PC’s official PR?
You belong to a country that has richest traditions and legacy in terms of fabrics, handlooms, jewellery and this is what you come up with ?? Many may disagree with me but I wish Priyanka had the courage to do a beautiful light sari with classic pearls combo, something to stand apart rather than follow the crowd. Something that showed her roots specially because this is British Monarchy we are talking about. A sari is very much a ‘day dress’ as well as a message. This suit does nothing to her, terrible shoes & makes her look very wannabe
while she has a right to wear what she pleases… it would have been nice as one of the few indian guests that she would don a saree if anything for herself to stand apart from the sea of pastel suits and fascinators. but it was her call to blend into the sea than stand apart using what others there did not have – a heritage of where she came from! oh, well to each his own…we are here to comment on her present look…not a look that we think she should have donned! how presumptous of us to tell others what they ought to wear and not wear!
We force the foreign guests in our weddings in Ghagras and cholis but will not extend the courtesy to theirs.nice!
“ankle-strap pumps (Manolos?) ”
Choo X Off-White.
Please uphold the standard you set yourself to.
Eh? We try to inform as much we can. Never have claimed we know everything. Not sure what your angst is about.
Pratyush: This post was literally written within minutes of the pictures going up. It is impossible to expect P&P to recognise every possible pair of shoes that exist, especially such fugly ones. Don’t be a jerk!
I’m afraid this reminds me of someone’s mum in her sunday best.
More like someone’s granny
Who are we kidding ! PCs wedding look was just too bad and that is definitely not her color. Her reception look was totally on point. But please the wedding was a plain disaster.
