In Ralph Lauren

The 2018 Met Gala’s theme was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” and full embracing it was Ms. Chopra in her velvet Ralph Lauren. From the jeweled hood to the retro hair and the berry lip, she worked every bit of it!

We absolutely loved!

  1. The gown (fabric and cut around the hips) is whatever but that hood, as is intended, makes the needed impact! That last picture sells the overall mood/attitude of the look so well.

  5. What’s become of the world? Is nothing sacrosanct anymore. When did it become ok to pick a major religion of the world as a theme? And no, I am not Catholic, but I feel for every Catholic and Christian today :(

    • I’m Catholic and I don’t mind this at all. In fact, the Catholic church didn’t have a problem with it either. The choir from The sistine Chapel sang at the gala, and the Cardinal from New York was also present. Look it up. The theme is based on ‘Catholic art’ and this celebrates it.

    • i do not, for the life of me , understand the offence people take a religious influence in fashion or art, when religion was invented to influence humans in the first place…its only ok when u r influenced to behave “properly” or be scared tht ud go to hell?like c’mon…

  6. That’s an amazing look! The beautiful color, cut and the dramatic head piece! Simple and on point! I thought she was one of the best dressed at the event.
Minimal fuss but right on the theme! What a way to follow her Uber dramatic look last year!

  7. Wow! She nailed it. One of the very few that didn’t go the headgear route and yet stood out at par and on theme. loved the styling. I feel that on an International stage, Priyanka gets what is required. Props to her stylist and her for figuring out/ having an individual style and running with it.

  8. Who ever came up with ‘Catholic’ as a fashion theme for a Gala? will we also have a ‘Bolshevik’ theme and a ‘Hasidic’ theme? I am trying to wrap my head around this…

    • First off, the theme is usually related to the special exhibition (costume+fashion+art) the Met launches at the same time. It’s in honor of Catholic art, and the Vatican and the Pope supported this fully, they even lent over 40 pieces of art+costume they have not publicly exhibited before to this exhibition.

Second, and I’m curious about the thread of logic here: in what world is “Bolshevik” or “Hasidic” equivalent to Catholic?

  9. i wudve preferred more drama in the train and skirt area TBH bt im a gay man in his mid 20’s ,if i had my way, she’d be wearing an actual train in sequins with pope’s face to fit the theme so yea, whadoiknow…
