From Runway To Photo Shoot

Spotted Preity wearing a Falguni and Shane Peacock yellow gown from the duo’s Spring 2009 season. Not quite sure though where this shoot is from and while I love the gown, I hate the hair.

  1. There is OTT and there is ugly. This gown falls in the latter category. The bow the badly placed wachmmatocallit breastplates? and those scraggly feathers plucked from a dead vulture. even Preity and her spunk cant save this gown. looks like a taxi with feathers.

  2. hmmm..the dress is whimsical- looks good on the runway-doesnt suit priety though- might look much nicer on somone with a leaner frame

  3. her hair is too proper for a gown like that. though the gown itself is not that great, it could have been made interesting. i dont think that the pose suits it either. the pose screams ‘vanity’ while the gown is more about fun and summer.
also the dress would have looked much better without the bow. bows on dresses look cute when you’re 10, and ridiculous after that!

  4. I mean, you girls have serious “clique” issues. Where does this dress even BEGIN to make sense? It’s incredible how inconsistent you both are, especially when you start thinking you are going to be all elitist-fashionconscious-appreciator-of-the-avantgarde.
You girls used to comment on what was wearable and what was not, in much the same way women at a Kitty Party would, and it was cute and witty. The problem of course arose when you thought you could start giving lectures about “fashion”. And, oh-my-god Style!

  5. But then, someone had to tell you,
Huh? Lectures about fashion? Pray, do tell us when we started doing that.

For the most part, we give our opinion on a look and the readers give theirs… Is that what you call a lecture?

  6. I have a feeling that “but then again” is preity herself :-)
I like the runaway version because it is fewer feathers, light-weight net like fabric and satin, rather than velor ribbon.

  7. The objection was more to the inconsistency, actually. Anything endorsed by sworn torchbearers of fashion becomes automatically acceptable to you, despite being baffled by it. Take for instance Manish Arora. Being a student of fashion, and a pretty damned good one at it, I know for a fact that some of his designs are so kooky, and SO have nothing to do with his aesthetic (which is clearly there and is clearly fantastic) and are so unpleasing aesthetically/ergonomically that I am sure even he laughs at how he is selling some of these things to unsuspecting fashion victims who take it as gospel, because heck, he deigned it worthy of being brought on to the ramp, and hell, M.I.A is wearing it.
Which is when, you, as you have been doing all along, should take a stand and say, dude, I get the aesthetic and I know not all clothes that come on the ramp are meant to be wearable, but this particular one is neither in the same league as the others in the same collection nor is it pleasing in any way. And it is essential that you do it, because you are widely read, and I certainly believe that you are capable of influencing tastes.
My objection is merely to the inconsistency, and yes, the brand obsession. Like the “legendary” Hermes Birkin or Kelly. Sometimes, those bags do look like a sawmill accountant’s tiffin box holding bag. Yes, they are great bags, but only when worn well.

  8. Ugh, no need for errata actually.
These Martinis are going to be the end of me, I tell you.

By the way, great job otherwise, girls.

  9. ummm when did this turn into a lecture?

Anyways, something about actresses trying to be models always irks me. I think this dress would have looked a whole lot better had a real model worn it. Preity just looks weird in this picture cuz she doesn’t know how to pose.
