Birkin Baby

While Anu Deewan has added yet another one to her stables, a croc this time (or is it alligator?)… Ms. Reddy was spotted with her first one. A yummy orange ostrich. It is however Ms. Patel’s non-exotic red that appeals to us the most. What makes your wish-list?

      • Unless you are a vegan, I’m not sure you could pass of that judgement. I’m quite sure MOST of us have leather in our wardrobe and/or eat meat. So why pick on these women?

        • nope, don’t have leather in wardrobe and don’t eat meat either.
so, yes, i can pass that judgment.

as for eating meat, people argue that we’ve been eating meat since caveman days and that’s the nature’s way. sure, i don’t want to argue … but atleast we can stay away from killing and poaching animals for these madly expensive bags for the sake of vanity!

        • It is a luxury if you own a closet full of leather bags rather than just one or two. One single person might not be able to solve the problem of killing animals but it is still the question of how conscious you are.

  1. Araaish felt like a Birkin expo this time…. even Pria Kataria Puri and Ramona Narang rocked in with theirs!! Personally, its RED all the way!

  2. I know there is a waitlist for the Birkin and all that but having seen it on the arm of each and every socialite and wannabe in India doesnt make it look that exclusive anymore. My love for it has waned over the past year, seeing it on the arms of women who have no clue on how to carry/wear it. Siggghhh I much prefer the quiet elegance of a BV.

    • And what is Ms. Anu going to do with so many Birkins? She has like what? over 10 now? I dont understand carrying the Birkin as only a status symbol! She and her ‘look’ with a Birkin dangling on her arm at each and every event is getting so B.O.R.I.N.G.

      • She’s going to introduce a Guiness for it!!! How ‘insane’ can someone be to have the SAME bag in SO many colors. Its ridiculous!!! If she has so much money she should spend it on the thousands of other beautiful expensive bags out there instead of the same one again and again.

I’m sure her hospital bag will be a Birkin and her maid/ nanny will tote one around as a diaper bag.

  3. I’ve seen a few real hermes birkins from hermes boutiques and if you look at Anu’s hermes bags and also pinky’s you will notice the sides are quite sturdy. Ok, it depends on which leather you choose, but i’ve known most birkin leathers to retain their shape, this is part of the quality of the bag, hence the price. So it makes me wonder what Kehkashan has done to hers to make the side piping at the front of the bag fold the way it does in the photo?! Did she sit on it? And if she did, shame on her!

  4. I might be one of the very few…. but I don’t feel the love anymore for the Birkin. Initially yes, I did like the bag and it was special. But now its just boring and very non-imaginative. As for Anu, I just don’t get her obsession. That being said, the one that she added to her collection looks fugly. I like the red one the best.

    • i know right?!! I agree, i think the shape of birkin and the look is so boring and unattractive. I understand that the way it’s made is what makes it luxuriousn but it’s not worth the money. I think Kelly’s are so much more classier and attractive.

      • So totally true!!
I would prefer a Kelly over a Birkin anyday!!
And for me, I have lost all the interest in a Birkin seeing it on the arms of every socialite , who just carries it as a status symbol!!

    • Yes, I was going to post about her shoes, but you beat me to it! (They are $570 btw)…and I would never spend that much on flats. They are probably very comfy as other bottega shoes. (fyi, I have one pair)

  6. I, like a few other posters, used to crave for a Birkin. But lately, they’ve lost their appeal for me, mainly because I’m finally seeing past their popularity and looking at the actual bag. It’s a very mature bag, and it’s ironic that so many 30-something celebrities carry them so casually. Now, I don’t see anything special about them.

  7. People please its a gorgeous bag n it doesn’t have an age limit. It can be dressed up or down n it still looks so very beautiful.
I agree that Ms. Dewan’s Birkin could have been in a better colour so the croc specs could pop more but I guess she took whatever came her way.
As for Pinky’s Ostrich, I totally like. The orange Hermes colour is a classic. I would very much get one in the near future.

But as of now I’m on the top of the world with my new red similar to Ms. Patel. Got it a few days back. It’s my 2nd one.
    Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
