Of Mothers And Daughters

Comment image 11

Neetu, along with her family sans Ranbir, attended Ganpati Visarjan festivities today with her wearing a lime green churidaar suit. What caught my attention here was not her suit but the fact that daughter Riddhima was in a t-shirt and denims. :P

Brought back loads of memories of my own Mom insisting on going desi for a festival and the denim-addict teenager me putting my foot down. I won some of those battles but lost a lot more. ;)

Were you also that rebellious kid?

  1. You said it! It’s okay when you are a rebellious teen..as a grown up its more about event appropriate dressing..nothing against comfy jeans+tee!
I have stuck out like a sore thumb in an event cause others were dressed in desi stuff and I came wearing work formals straight from office:/

  2. Rebellious teen is ok and accepted. But adults dressing event inappropriate displays either a lazy or couldn’t care less attitude- both pretty off putting.

  3. Never saw riddhima in desi outfit except during her own marriage. Couple of years ago, she and her daughter attended ganapati visarjan festive at salman khan’s residence where she was sportted in denims and shirt, but her daughter was in desi kurta and pants. Even in kareena’s wedding riddhima was in gown. Hence i never saw in desi outfits except during her own wedding
U may call me an old school but i wont feel its event appropriate

  4. when you are a rebellious teen it is fine, as a grown up mom it is not fine to wear a jeans and T to any and every event.
She could have added a kurta with the jeans and it wouldn’t be so bad.

    Neetu looks lovely.
Love the color, its so serene and peaceful.

  5. Hmmm I think that Riddhima is very far from her rebellious teen days. Right now it’s more inappropriate than rebellious. To give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she came to the visarjan directly from somewhere else and didn’t get the time to change her outfit.

  6. Agree with all.
I find it a little inappropriate when these celeb types dress way too casual and inappropriate for certain events such as pujas, funerals, weddings etc.
They live in India so it is not as if they could not have any event appropriate outfits at home.

  7. Wow.. surprised by how many people are commenting on the appropriateness of wearing denims. Sure a kurta or anything Indian would’ve been nice, but this is a simple jeans and tee, not some skimpy/distracting dress (read: the kapoor and arora sisters in the christmas mass last year :P )
So many men in shirts/tees behind her. It’s just that we’ve gotten used to that.
