The Sari Ladies

Shilpa Shetty and husband Raj Kundra hosted their first Diwali bash post marriage that was attended by the who’s who of tinsel town.

These ladies went the six-yard round and of the four here, loved Nandita’s pink sari the most. It was festive enough without being too gaudy. For the worst of the lot, you’ll have to take a peek inside!

P.S. Sophie is wearing Rocky S.

    • Nandita is a vision of grace where as Bhavna seems to be stuck in a “Chameli” phase (going strictly by the draping and the fall of the pallu)

  1. All the saris are horrible. Renu’s sari is the least cheap looking by the paradoxical virtue of being completely boring; but of course she ruined the look with her drape. Ladies, what’s better than one-boob show? Belly-button show. I wonder how long before this catches on and it becomes ‘acceptable’ to dress like Ameesha/Bhavna (i.e. the ‘leading’ ladies start wearing the sari like so).
    Ugh.

  2. doesn’t Ameesha realize how cheap she looks??? Gosh whoever says she looks good before she walks out of the house isn’t her friend….PLzzz she needs some serious intervention…

  3. I honestly didnt like Nandita’s saree.. the cutwork and the two toned stuff not my preference but Ameesha Patel – give her a nice pretty saree and she knows how to make it look tacky!!! yuck!!

  4. What a waste of what could be decent sarees with Ameesha and Bhavna. I think Bhavna’s was just a bad photo. If she drapes it well, it could have been decent.
NAndita’s pink is quite nice, although I wouldn’t wear it. Renu’s cream is something I might consider.

  5. somebody please inform Ms. Patel that she will have to make do with short dresses, strapless, spagetti… whichever she likes, even garish churidars are fine (allowed). the saree is just not her thing, why make the poor girl go thru something she just does not have a clue about. Poor poor soul.

  6. What Ameesha is wearing is such an insult to the saree! I like nandita mahtani. Maybe coz she rarely ever wears Indian n it’s good to see her in something different

  7. OMG !! Not one of these ladies has worn the saree w/o the half boob show. It just reminds me of the Common wealth opening ceremony, where not one single flag bearer wore the saree properly. I think saree tying needs to be taught as a course to north indian girls. Apparantly their mother are not doing a good job. Ridiculousness !!!!

    • Excuse me, but that comment was rude and ignorant. There were actually professional stylists responsible for dressing up the flag-bearer girls at the Commonwealth and they all looked amazing. They represented different draping styles from different parts of India – perhaps you are not aware of the great diversity in saree tying styles in the country.

Please do your research before you make such crass remarks.

  8. OMG!! Why does Amisha keep doing this to herself!?? She looks hideous! Bhavna and Renu should really have draped their saris properly too. The colour of Nandi’s sari is pretty and she always carries herself well. I think Sophie’s sari is draped the best and she looks nice. Maybe a bright colours would have been nice for diwali but seeing all the other bright horrors i think the black and pink saris look best!

  9. Nandita’s “saree” is actually a lehenga,I think.

And Ameesha’s saree, by itself is quite pretty; I could have nailed it, she’s just nailed it (into a coffin):-)

  10. Actually looking at all these ladies , I think Sophie looks quite demure and with the jewellary kept to the minimal with the golden border i think she looks nice.
Nandita’s hair just ruins all her looks for me and her makeup is so off , also why do i see her legs between her saree pleats.
Ameesha patel just needs to stop !!!!!

  11. Sophie looks good.Nice hair, make-up, minimal jewellery..Nandita’s sari is really pretty too but it does seem like her legs are showing through. So what.. at least they both look graceful and elegant in the saris.

  13. I like Sophie’s sari. She looks the best here. As for Ameesha, I have nothing to say. It’s a simple sari that could’ve looked decent if she draped it properly. The sari is by Manish Malhotra.
