Dinner In Delhi: Part Deux

Comment image 11

The President and First Lady (or POTUS/FLOTUS to some) have left the country and while there was no sighting of Michelle in a sari (even though the anticipation was huge), we did have a sari sighting from Sally Roemer (wife of the U.S. Ambassador to India) at the State Dinner hosted by President Pratibha Patil. Needless to say, the handwoven saris on the President and Sonia Gandhi were much more elegant.

Michelle herself wore a floor length skirt and blouse by Indian-American designer Rachel Roy.

  1. Sally looks ravishing in a saree. Michelle Obama looks good in the long skirt with tan colored top. Deve Gowda looks sleepy!!! The guy next to Mr Pranab Mukherjee looks like he is ready to hit the bed already!!!

    Mr Obama looks dashing.

I wish the reception of Mr Obama was a little better than offered to him.

  2. I agree. there is nothing special about Sally Roemer’s saree but atleast she is wearing it right. starlets like Ameesha Patel and Nauheed can take a few lessons ;o)

  3. The woman two to the left of Mrs. Gandhi is wearing a beautiful sari – love the ulta pallu drape. Mrs. Patil always looks so dignified and elegant. Mrs.Obama looks nice too, but I do wish someone had draped Sally Roemer’s sari just a bit better, although I am thrilled to see her wearing one.

  4. Sally looks great in a saree and, thank God, she’s wearing it elegantly unlike our own Bollywood ladies. I’m glad the First Lady did not wear a sari; no reason why she should….she looks great in her gown. I like Pratibha Patil’s sari but, boy, she looks anything but presidential. I miss Indira Gandhi’s shoulder back confident stance. Obama, as always, looks dashing.

  5. OMG that first picture is so picture perfect. They all look so great and how I love Barack even more. The saris on President Patil and Sonia look great. And Michelle’s appearance here is one I like a lot more then her choice of attire for the dinner with Dr. and Mrs. Singh.
