In Saint Laurent

Malaika attended Christmas Eve mass wearing a black velvet Saint Laurent mini with t-strap sandals and a Chanel bag. Now that I have seen the model, part of me wishes Malaika had also worn the dress with tights to make it a more mature and polished look.

As is, it looks she is about to head to a club rather than a mass.

  1. Please cover up! Not being a prude here but do you always need to look like an item number. Classy girls know that sometimes it’s way more sexy to cover up than to bear it all.

    • Have always thought so ! I love my little dresses but I don’t exactly need them to look / feel good.
Her idea of sexy is very sleazy to me, which is really unfortunate.
With a little class she could be my favorite celebrity, I remember how poised she used to be when hosting Miss India, and other events.

    • She could have worn a jacket or a shawl to the church and removed it when she got to the party. These are photo op events for her and her friends

  2. Its not because of the Mass (don’t want to do moral policing) but it just ticks off all the boxes – tight, yes, short – yes, revealing – yes, velvet – yes. It just ends up looking tacky.

  3. The way the model wears it, slightly longer with stockings and the white collar, the dress passes muster. Its a size too tight on Malaika. As for event- appropriate, c’mon these are Bollywood celebs, they are known to dress for their weddings at another’s wedding..so, they are actually under-dressed (no pun) for the occasion.

  4. This dress is just cringe worthy anyways..and don’t get me started on event appropriateness. We get it Malaika that you have a fab body, but don’t shove it in our faces every time you step out. There is no moral policing here folks…there are some things that needs to be done by the book. PERIOD!!

  5. Not only celebrities but regular church going girls and women wear shorts dresses to church which are nothing less than this. And many women here must know that its a ‘thing’ to be well dressed at the church. If well dressed means short and fitted to some, then so be it.. I mean I don’t see anything wrong here..

    • I live outside India, in a relatively modern city. Some years ago, the Diocese here issued a stern warning to parishioners who turn up for mass in sloppy clothes (particularly shorts). I am surprised then that Indian churches would condone this. I have never seen anyone dress as disrespectfully as Ms Arora. If what you said about other church-goers’ dressing is true, I feel incredibly sorry.

  6. Even religious events have become publicity stunts for all these people – the most saddening thing is not that they’re dressed like this. The sad thing is that all these things that are sacred to people around the world are brought to this level. Walking into any place of worship dressed like this makes it more about showing off to media rather than being there for your faith.

  7. As a practicing Christian myself, who loves fashion I still have to say that everything has a place and time. A church is no place to look “sexy, stylish or gather attention”. That bare back does exactly that, but in an inappropriate way.
I would dare her to step into a temple or a mosque dressed like this. If you are afraid of hurting the sentiments of one sacred place, then why disrespect the others?

  8. How inappropriate and comes off as plain silly and dumb.
No taste or sense whatsoever to make such choices to attend mass for “God”‘sake, literally!
