In Nicolas Jebran

After walking the red carpet, Mahira attended the Chopard party on Monday evening wearing a one-shoulder Nicolas Jebran sequin gown featuring a dramatic puffy shoulder.

This gown sure was more interesting than her earlier appearance but can’t saw I was a fan of it. Anyone else think she has fared better in her other casual day looks. Loved her in the sari.

  2. She looks lovely in everything – but I think that is because of her personality (and that face – how pretty is she?). I think the saree is okay. It has been styled brilliantly. I love her in the lilac gown and the floral one.

  3. I like all the looks apart from Blumarin – she looks so beautiful without heavy makeup and sleek hairstyles. Love the saree look the most.

  4. P&P biased much ?;)

She looks fabulous in everything, in fact in par & similar to the other Hollywood/global actresses.

Indian actresses usually seem to try too hard. Rasika dugal was an exception.

  5. Love her in each of the outfits. I love that she doesn’t stick to a similar silhuette and look and changes things up. I think she looks fierce in the sequined dress (very 80’s) and the lavender dress looks like it was made for her. I don’t like the saree itself but the whole look is still gorgeous.

  6. For her first time on the red carpet – she did so, so amazingly well!
I loved all her looks. Sure- some dresses could be better- but that goes for all that walk the red carpet! Including Ash and Sonam (remember Ash’s first few years on this red carpet! Omg. Really awful fashion choices!)

Mahira looked so gorgeous in the lavender gown and the sequined one – all of them infact!!!!!

  7. That sari would look tacky on anyone else but Mahira elevates it by her simplicity, easy breezy hairstyle and minimal styling. I for one love the Nicolas Gebran. The minimalistic hair Makeup and jewellery perfectly complement the gown. The rest are pretty bordering on boring/safe but props to her for changing up the hair with every look.

  8. Mahira looks really nice. Very easy breezy. The Nicolas Jebran dress doesn’t work for me though. I see the appreciation she is getting which is so nice. What irks me however, is the comparisons with and criticism of Ash, Sonam, Deepika etc. These ladies have been putting their best foot forward. Some outfit choices might work for us, some might not. But they are there to do a ‘job’ and they are doing it right. So praise for one should not come at the expense of criticism of another.

    • Exactly! You either do good or you don’t. It’s exceptionally petty minded to pit Indian and Pakistani actresses against each other. The fact PnP is featuring Pakistani fashion on their website is proof enough that they don’t have such biases. So it would be great if the readers leave their own biases behind when we are appreciating/crtiquing fashion on this page.

    • Could you kindly stick to fashion and not politics? The delegates either did good or they didn’t. It’s exceptionally petty minded to pit Indian and Pakistani actresses against each other. Rise above it. Arts/fashion/music is a way to do so. Please don’t spoil it for everyone else. Thanks for the understanding.

        • To each her own, sure! But like PA says, petty to make it a India – Pak things. What are you, in Kindergarten? “She wins the Cannes”?? I have no clue whatever that means. Also, they are not Indian “delegates”. They are just faces of a brand.

      • Stop it. I am an Indian, who is fed up of most of our Indian actresses and found this girl to be very pretty and poised. And I support her. It’s my choice. She is way more prettier than most of our Indian actresses and she is very very classy. A breath of fresh air for me. And she has such chic dressing sense. Nothing can stop her. She will gain millions of admirers from India and beyond.

        • You are right. It’s your choice to like or support anyone you want. But by buiding up that person. Not by tearing down others. Rise above that level of needing to compare and mudsling. It’s unnecessary.

          • Sorry if I offended you. I don’t want to hurt anyone.
It’s just the cringe towards some Indian actresses…. how they carry themselves.
I don’t have any sugar coated words for them.
And I wrote what I felt.

    • I’m neither Indian, nor Pakistani, but I think she won Cannes for me. She was just so effortlessly chic — and perfect for a seaside town at this time of the year. No attention-seeking gowns, no tacky makeup, she just felt like a breath of fresh air. L’Oréal should be well pleased to have signed her up — she’s totally worth it.

        • Hi Rose, I’m Bangladeshi :-) I was totally wow-ed by her poise and easy demeanour at Cannes. And P&P didn’t even feature her best look: the Carvan one, the one that she wore when she arrived in Cannes.

          • Seriously Z, her class and poise is very rare nowadays which had us all go wow and got our admiration. And the old world charm and aura she has inherently makes her different and sets her apart from the rest. Combined with great taste in clothes. :D She made it all look so easy and she was easy on the eyes. :D

I thought Mahira khan knocked it out of the park with every look, the red carpet look is old world glamour, like candle light and roses, that classic look and elegance will never go out of style! The Nicolas jebran ,dress is very trendy, high drama, looked amazing at night! Mahira khan gets A+ at Cannes!

  13. Loved Loved Mahira’s looks at Cannes. The gown worked for me. It had just the right amount of drama without making one fear about how she would sit or move. At the end of the day they are there to catch previews of movies right. Liked Mahiras looks the best followed by Ash and Deepika. Loved Sonam’s casual looks over her RC looks

The other three looks are spot on for daytime… love the lilac…so fresh. the maxi look is perfet with the nude shoes… and the saree is modern and a refrreshing change from the western outfits. But i tell you it is the face that makes it all work!

  17. People are taking regional bias to a whole other level here. Mahira wore an extremely ordinary and dated black dress to the redcarpet, i dont understand how she won? And against whom, all the 100 odd celebs or only the indian celebs? How is her outfit better than Aishwarya’s cinco or deepikas Ashi studio which have been featured on international best dressed lists and can be considered as works of Art .And if people are talking about looks, i would like to say that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and our idea of beauty is shaped based on our surroundings and also influences . What is considered beautiful in Pakistan might not really be considered beautiful in India, and vice versa. Its ok to support your favs but pulling down others is pure juvenile and definitely not expected from the readers of this site. Probably for such comments Pinkvilla would be the best :)

    • I’m from Pakistan and I love this comment. The only thing, people in Pakistan and India do have very similar beauty standards. Unfortunately fair skin and only fair skin is considered beautiful. No wonder Fair and Lovely sells like hot cakes in both countries and nearly every other celeb opts for whitening injections. Trends come and do but sadly obsession over fair skin is one trend that refuses to die.

      • I agree. I actually gave india and pakistan as an example. Within india too idea of beauty changes from people to people, region to region. Some only consider the fair skinned as beautiful . Some look for facial features, sharpness, face cut etc. Some look for overall personality. Its all subjective, psychological and cannot to be generalized . But yes unfortunately for a majority of the south asian population fair skin is a minimum requirement to be considered beautiful.

        • Beauty is subjective, so is people, forcing their opinion, as fact , that girls with fair skin , is the only factor people consider, them beautiful! In Mahira case, girls is where she is based on har hard work, natural good looks is there, but without her talent as a actress, she would be another fair skin girl, because in pak every other girl is fair! Plus, she herself has inherit good sense of fashion, face and skin color is God given! So, learn to love your own skin color !
