Seeing Red

For her appearance at an art event in the city, Madhuri picked a dressy velvet suit to wear. Bindi in place, she rounded out her look with gold-toned jewelry and sandals. That jewel-toned red looked great on her; Madhuri looked nice.

    • Exactly. Ankle strap sandals are the workhorse of shoes! Look great with almost everything.
I think juttis would work with the ijar pants she has on too.

  1. So dated. Sometimes I wonder if she just doesn’t realize that its 2019. Someone should tell her. Either that or we may have another Rekha in the making. She’ll just continue to wear her 90s suits for the rest of her life.

    • These “dated” comments on Madhuri posts are getting dated. She’s far from looking like Rekha. Maybe you should take a look at her outfits over the past couple of years and then comment. Bye!

    • I wonder if you live in Mumbai because I do and this comment is so misplaced. The weather is ridiculously good for this time of the year. It is perfectly appropriate to wear this.

  2. I feel she would look good in Anita Dongre, Payal K designs. These velvet clothings need to disappear from planet earth!!
Her face saves this outrageous outfit.

  3. Velvet if worn in more contemporary cuts actually looks quite fashionable. However, Madhuri is wearing a traditionally cut kurta with ijar so i’d Swap the heels for juttis. That’s face though- fresh as a daisy.

  4. Red velvet for a day event? Amitabh Bachhan said somehting to the effect that as a filmstar you can wear the most random stuff and it still works. This is a case in point.

  5. What a beautiful lady!! Very graceful and elegant. I hate the velvet suits as much as the next person, but Madhuri looks really charming here.

  6. I think she looks amazing and so well put together.
How she manages to survive outdoors in Mumbai in velvet – now THAT bit I don’t know and laud her for her bravery.
But why call her look dated? Because of the cut or the embroidery on her pants or just because it is velvet? IMO, she looks so nice. I wonder what is considered contemporary? Shapeless chola kurtas or the Kareena like leopard cami?
She does wear Anita Dongre and Payal K as well…if she chooses to wear velvet once in a while, what is the issue?
ALSO, velvet was the hottest trend during the holiday season in 2018 for party dresses. Not that outdated I’d say… Criticizing for the sake of it is no fun man!

  7. She looks absolutely lovely and her style portrays authenticity, grace and natural beauty. Sometimes “contemporary” dressing in Bollywood comes across as Hollywood wannabe-ish and I am glad Madhuri does not usually do it.

  9. She looks great! Such straight cut suits are classic and timeless and quite mainstream and that’s why many feel this look is “dated”. I would take this look any day over the shapeless Eka or Chola separates or some weird saree pants that seem to be making the rounds. Heck, this is not an anarkali and that itself should qualify this look as a winner.
