In Not So Serious By Pallavi Mohan

The Hyderabad edition of the Times Food Guide Awards saw Lakshmi in a Not So Serious by Pallavi Mohan dress. Wearing the crochet lined dress with a a strand of Chanel pearls, her look was finished out with a pop of color which came via a pair of pink Coach flats.

I get that the modification to expose the crochet was made to make the dress more interesting but am just not a fan of it. And, as timeless as Chanel beads are, a mix of long and short pearl strands would’ve made the look stand out more. The single strand didn’t really add much to the look.

  1. Yes, unfortunately the dress is not sized correctly on the beautiful Lakshmi Manchu. This is a typical problem with India- based designers. Bad tailoring!

    • Exactly. Many of these designers don’t pay attention to the most important aspect of a design…the fit. I’m not sure how much it is stressed on in fashion school (considering they have had a formal design education) but looking at all the baggy, boxy, maxi and anarkali designs that are popular now, I dobt think they give enough impprtance to it. If I had a dollar (USD, not Zimbabwe) everytime I saw a tent-like montrosity from a “designer” on this site, I’d be able to afford a tent-like montrosity. Our fashion designers are taking the easy way out, slacking off. Up your game people!

  2. Pretty dress on the model but removing the bottom panel of the dress to adjust for Lakshmis height just does not work. The dress ends rather abruptly on Lakshmi making it look odd.

  3. Its just a standard pearl strand butchered by those cringe-inducing plastic looking mini Chanel logos.. wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole, how are they “timeless”!?

  4. The dress is actually OK on the model, but is a terrible fit on the actress. The finishing is so bad too. And those pearls. Timeless? Really?
