In EKA

Wearing an Eka tunic with white pants, a graphic tote and sneakers, Kiran was photographed while out in Mumbai. Weather appropriate and so easy; Kiran looked good! This appearance brought to mind what the designer behind Eka, Rina Singh said of Kiran (in Bazaar’s latest issue) as being “in a timeless fashion realm, yet obscure enough to not call attention to herself as a fashion figure”. Couldn’t agree more! Dressed-up or down, the fact that she has such a strong personal style that she stays true to makes her a favorite of ours on these pages.

  1. I don’t feel that she has a style that sets her apart. If this was a passerby we would not even give the dressing another look or talk about it . But just because she is a known face there is this constant effort to slot her as someone who has a different style.

    • Totally agree with you! Her sartorial choices are mostly updated versions of early 90’s college attire. Thanks to her youthful appearance she can carry off these easy breezy looks without looking trying to hard!
PnP, you wouldn’t have looked at her twice if she wasn’t Kiran Rao and the kurta was from Khadi Gramodyag and not from a highly over-priced brand called Eka! :)

  2. Very well said..I couldn’t agree more with you Priyanka as well as Rina Singh. She’s so unassuming, effortless yet assertive in her fashion sense. This appearance was love at first sight.

  3. i think she has a very individualistic style, distinctive, and i’m always glad to see her here, but she’s started doing ‘the-brad-pitt-johnny-depp’ now, i think. aggressively fighting her good looks somehow.

    • ‘fighting her good looks’ – so well said!
many many times, gals observe & figure out that its too much of effort for them being on THAT side of river (as are other regular beauties), so opt to be on the other extreme- its easy & they get to be under the safe umbrella of being ‘the intelligent & unassuming’ one

Kajol – left that thinking and used her capabilities SO WELL!

Every girl wants to look ‘that’ beautiful deep within :) Atleast I think so.

  4. There is no style whatsoever even if you call it her personal style.
It could be best branded as a celebrity spotting.

That aside, the look begs for a necklace or trinket with some color pop.

  6. Totally agree with Al .. she has no sense of style
here she is wearing a simple Kurt which none of us would notice or like or someone unknown .. so let’s stop giving her credit for having a fashion sense which thousands of other working women have

  7. Never thought of her as stylish, always looks like shes least bothered most of the time. Some of her outfits in the past have been ‘nice’, but mostly just looks like she gives what shes wearing zero thought.

  8. I love indian outfits that go well with sports shoes/sneakers. This looks awesome. I am not a fan of the hair though but overall i do like the look.

as for folks saying no style, how many do we see on the streets of Mumbai wearing anordinary kurta these days, also paired with sneakers?

  10. Have been busy for quite sometime and was just now catching up with our blog!!And have to say P&P’s writing has improved so much better!!Thats not sayin that you guys wrote badly before, it’s just that it used to be only about the clothes , shoes , personal preferences and sometimes getting catty before :p Now u guys have not only expanded your horizon and started regularly covering some relatively unknown south stars but also started giving us some info about the designers and related events etc ..Kudos to P&P !!

  11. This look is so fresh! & give her a break guys she’s not a celebrity/actor.shes a director producer & always strives to maintain that distance from the limelight. I anyways have never seen her in bodycon dresses so why not accept her style the way she is.also it’s not always about dressing up & looking decked up! who wears that kind of vulgarity everyday, this even I could! It’s so relatable.
