Sister Act

The Kapoor sisters participated at a session at the ongoing India Today Conclave on Saturday where Karisma was seen in a black and white Sachin & Babi sheath and Kareena in a ruffle sleeve Prabal Gurung suit.

They both looked good but I have to give Kareena just a wee bit more love. Skipping the lipstick made more of an impact here.

Agree?

  1. Just sometimes.. you are born with it. They both look like their only competitors.. style n class game unmatchable. Love how Karishma glows and the feminine suited look by Kareena is great.

    • I so agree, sometimes when you hear them speak on certain serious topics..no connection whatsoever. Yeah they all dress up pretty, look all sophisticated- the events should have the right audience to bring out the best of it. They spoke about motherhood, male dominance and so on. Ah, irony as they come from the industry family :-D

Anyway my ranting on a Sunday morning wouldn’t change a thing, let me go for my run after looking at Kareena in that suit , sigh

    • You know what they say – women are women’s worst enemies . Be it the MiL – DIL equation or catty comments from one woman to another .
Notwithstanding their educational qualifications , they have achieved enough fame to be featured on these pages that we all come back to again and again because we believe it is worth our time OR those conclaves .
That is more than I can say for many of us – readers of these pages .

      • so i or anybody else who is a reader of this page despite all my ive achieved in my life should feel bad about myself because i have not achieved enough fame as these two to be featured in these pages,by the way it is because of the effort that goes into their appearances by their staff that they get featured, i believe a lot of women who read HHC are probably equally beautiful and equally accomplished in their chosen fields as these two

      • You think the men would be a-okay with these two appearing in the conclave and not pass one snide remark about it? Coming to this topic , yes I agree these two are meant to be on these pages but to the conclave, I don’t think so . Apparently the topic was about Women in the entertainment BUSINESS and they chose to feature these both ,one of whom hasn’t been in the movies for quite sometime now . My point is ,when picking celebrities for such business events why not pick the ones who are not just in front of the camera but someone who has hands-on experience on
the business side of show biz ? Someone like say Anushka who would be the perfect pick since she isn’t just an actress but also owns a production house and hence will be able to provide an insight into the business side of it all .
But this is nothing compared to Alia Bhatt being on invited to the India Economic Summit in World Economic Forum . I had an actual WTF moment when I saw her on the WEF news . By all means, invite her to all kinds of film events, award shows , weddings and other sport and entertainment events. But shouldn’t a business event mean well, business?!
But I can only come to the conclusion that PR, contacts and Godfathers go a long way into such things ,else apart from those I don’t find any similarity in such invites being extended to really good high-profile and well-connected actresses who have not exhibited any iota of business knowledge in their repertoire.
And Kareena actually had the nerve to deny about nepotism existing in the industry at this very conclave where she spoke about how the Kapoor sisters grew up in sets and studios all the while admiring her khandaan’s talent !!

      • And they are here just by virtuen of being from kapoor family,,the self labeled scion of indian cinema..neither their father or mother or uncles or cousins had any exceptional acting talents..looks were good and equally good connection unlike us who we are by our sheer hard work and determination and confidence. It brings pain to see them being called acheivers and actual acheivers left out in the glee

    • There are quite a few uneducated male actors too who are invited to big events.
Yes, they are not the most polished speakers but for Krishma Kapoor, I am sure she has gone through very tough times in her personal life, and has now started rebuilding her life. For Kareena Kapoor, she as an actor has been active throughout her pregnancy and is now back to work. A lot of women are put under tremendous pressure to quit their jobs to take care of their kids.

    • Your not well informed…? Kareena is a pass out of an Ivy League university.. assuming you know the Ivy League. Besides life’s a great experience, boookish qualifications are not everything.
Also this conclave is not a matter of influence for global issues, it’s not the g20, or wef, or climate change kind of summits, it’s a attraction n revenue model for the group.

      • Sana, I know about Ivy League (my daughter graduated from one and was got into 4) and sorry to burst your bubble, Kareena is not from Ivy League. I know the hard work required to get into these places. Kareena did a summer course from Harvard (I think it is 3 weeks course)–many people do to learn English or similar courses. Anyone can enroll, there isn’t much requirement to get into these.

Regarding the event–I agree with majority. There are other actresses who deserve to be there then the Kappor sisters–I like them both but truth is truth.

        • oh yeah.. a graduation at harvard is the only document worth all envy.. courses not? besides, my point was you need not have a heavy duty degree to be speaking publicly, they have achieved enough to be there.

–many people do to learn English: Wow really? harvard engligh course?

          Very sad mindset.

          • Lol no she did not. English is not the most widely spoken languages on the planet. Lots of people from non-English speaking countries take courses to learn english.
A 3 week “micro-computer” course at Harvard is hardly a “degree” from an Ivy-league school. They don’t accept people who are dropouts of high-school.
This isn’t the point here. They were called because it would make the conclave popular among the set of people who don’t know any of the other dignitaries and it was purely a publicity stunt. Channels also require TRP’s and what better way to grab eye-balls than feature the Kapoor sisters dish out on their personal lives.
They are savvy PR and media players. As far as achievements go, no, they are not in the same league at all. Ivy or not!
You cannot judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree – Albert Einstein. They are actresses, its okay if they are dropouts and not formally educated. You cannot claim they are passouts from reputed places when they are not! That is just white lies.

    • Dear Rita ,

life isn’t what they teach you at school/university .. life is what you what you learn as and when you experience it ..
I’m sure they weren’t invited to brag about their education n their degrees .. they were called there to speak and to inspire and talk about their journey !

      experience trumps education ..

Not undermining the power of education here .. but those who didn’t get those fancy degrees and yet have achieved in life are not to be looked down upon.

        • Well , if they hadn’t been trolled for their educational qualifications by Rita , the first commenter to start this thread – I would have let it go . I think sylviana makes a few rational points about featuring other women with more suitable achievements in the conclave . It is women getting catty about other women with no basis or provocation that gets my goat .

          • as far as i know and can add, stars are very very difficult to engage as speakers at such conferences, given their demands, fees, availability, security. so im sure they got what they wished of many others who may have not been available. but yeah it really brings out the kind of opinions people have, not being aware of the back end job. a choice is not made for a solo individual with a certain mindset like connect n all crap written above.. various things go in getting them on board.

  7. Both look great!!!! Just leaning a little bit more towards Kareena’s look here cause of her swag :p
And I feel female celebrities despite their education are chosen as ambassadors for bigger causes because they can make more of an impact using their popularity and I am sure they go through their own set of challenges. I am not sure if the most qualified women are always the most well-known beyond their own field/circle. Our society (everywhere) is celebrity and media driven… just is what it is!!

  8. P & P , I have a question , this look was styled by TANYA GHAVRI , are we not giving any credits to the stylist any more ? if it were up to Kareena , she would just tie a pony tail , and put red lipstick with all her outfits.

I feel like the stylists should get mentioned when we are talking about the looks designed.

And WEF is where achievers from ‘all’ places and industries go to share their general experiences in life . Like a TEDx event or something .

        • that way the entire entertainment industry should shut down from the rest of the world., ? Make movies n go home.. don’t share your thoughts n struggles at forums or have an opinionated life like any other person because.. well your an actor and your looks is your crime so you have no rights to speak your mind and be a part of the ‘qualified’ crowd or spaces. If you do you’d better conform.

  11. They look smashing.. what s with the discussion on their eligibility to attend the conference? Just because they are pretty does not make them stupid.. if we are discussing business acumen..even for the sake argument lets say these ladies have succeeded only coz of their gene deep good looks .. whats worng with that? Trading ur best abilities to earn money and success is what business is right? Many people who top universities dont have business sense.. or cant apply academic knowledge to real life situations .. why the comparison? Vanity and looks and make up and fashion is a serious business.. and they are good at it.. fame seems to be easy but to be under constant media speculation all the time takes immense composure and sacrifice.. even if its a price they pay to get all the goodies.. its worth some respect…plus if people want to listen to them speak on a platform why not?

Hmmm there are so many well known and rich people in this world who became big business man and women without college degree. I think kapoor sisters do know how to handle their millions of rupees without getting their degree? Who knows if they have invest some of their hard work money in businesses?

  13. Ok I know and accept that they could have business knowledge despite not doing any business in the conventional sense . So if they wanna share about it at such events , I’ m all ears ! But they don’t . They talk about the same shit they always talk about in interviews and promotional events . And people do business for a lot of reasons ,not just money and success. I , for one , am not doubting their good looks, acting skills or fashion sense because they do have them abundantly and nobody can deny that . But why show up at such business events and insult people who attend them to gain a bit of insight about the business of show biz and the other more qualified actors/actresses who can do a damn good job of doing exactly that ?!
