Served Up Two Ways

When arriving for her movie’s music launch, Kareena Kapoor wore a printed dress paired with really pale/ light grey pumps and then changed into a fuschia halter wrap dress (Gauri and Nainika? DvF?) which she also wore to the Bharat and Dorris Makeup and Hair Awards 09

Though we are suckers for fuschia, we much prefer Ms. Kapoor in her printed dress. You?

P.S: If the printed dress looks familiar, that’s because it has been worn before! Maybe that’s why she changed, so we couldn’t pin her for an ‘again’?!! ;)

  1. No, she looks awful in both outfits – blah dresses, ugly shoes, bad makeup and bad hair.

Plus I’m sick of her suck in the cheeks posing like paris hilton. It is not attractive.

  2. Honestly, I can barely look past the scary makeup and hair. Kareena looks AMAZING sans makeup, I wish she would wear less of it (or at least get a little creative)
The printed dress is better, but I don’t really like either dress on her, they don’t gel the attitude she’s emmitting- if you know what I mean.
Love her pumps in the first one

  3. Honestly, sometimes I think you guys are biased P & P…if anyone else was wearing that ghastly fushcia gown, it would have been a WTHEY…but since it’s Kareena it’s acceptable? I think her clothes are horrid and her make up even worse. She is not looking her best at all.
ALSO, I love how she’s such SCREAMING for attention by displaying her ring like that in both pictures…well I guess it worked then…eh?

  4. I honestly think you have to change the blurb to front row, dull bina tadka ke.

Initially the site seemed interesting but its gotten very repetitive. I know its not meant to be an Indian Go Fug and wants to be a bit more safe in its content and perhaps advertise products but that site keeps a person interested with their witty observations. This site in contrast seems to have become a recitation of labels and “she ruined it with this boot” or some such subjective idea of perfect dressing. It lacks an irreverent tone i.e. the tadka. I guess the people who care about labels and Bollly stars will keep flocking but for the rest of us who merely have an amused interest in the whole thing, it’s hard to keep coming back to this site if the game isn’t lifted.

yes yes, I am one of them and I shall continue to flock to HHC! :)) Thanks P and P.

as for this post, kareena could do better.

      • rr I am guessing HHC doesn’t want a readership that is confined to people interested in labels and Bolly stars. Normally a blog would aim for a diverse readership.

I would assume the average reader probably doesn’t care overly much about what we wear most of the time and most of us are also happy to admire a well turned out sister or have a giggle at spectacular bad taste. So the whole celeb/fashion/labels thing is a circus with good and absurd elements that needs to be approached with wit and humour. The success of go fug is not in showcasing fashion or labels but how it functions as social satire – it writes about fashion but keeps it fun. As an e.g. go read the piece on Freida’s dress on their site which mixes observations on Freida and the dress . Here on the other hand the post was very perfunctory and boring and the comments on predicatable lines. Or read their pieces on Tilda Swinton which both mock her awesomely bad fashion and celebrate the cheek of the actress in carrying it off. On this site Tilda would be a WTHeyy with no recognition of the fact that all that absurdity has a point and indicates a strong personality.

On second thoughts I think that tadka misled me. Maybe HHC was always intended to be one of those bland Sugar type sites. Pity because the idea of an incisive Indian fashion site is great.

    • I so agree….. Plus I feel that it would be better if focused on what went right and how one can get the look at better prices! Lets face it dont think too many people can afford the stuff these people wear !

As for the people only certain celebs are covered routinely cant we have different celeb?

One last point noteworthy to all my NRI counter parts while you all seem to have great taste in western wear…. you all seem to not have any understanding of indian wear!!!!

    • So true – the commentary REALLY puts me off this blog, which is a shame! Everything is “WTHEYYY” or “Match Much” or “Again” / “Ditto” – and that is just the labels of each post.. nevermind the bland pseudo-intellectual commentary…some improvement please, girls!

      • Couldnt agree more…the ladies need to have a fashion refresher especially when they’re passing inane judgement…sometimes the outfits do just fine without any of the commentary from the ladies that run this show…no original content and a dying personality is making this extremely dull

        • I was bored one afternoon and went through your archives when the blog had just started. it was so much more fun. there were posts on home deco, what to wear to the office, about jewelry, hairbands, watches for corporate wear, heck there was even a post about lunch boxes. whatever happened to that diversity? now its all either kareena this or sonam that or priyanka yawn.

moreover, your severe comment moderation stops any post from getting intresting with the comments, if it ever has a chance, that is !! the moment there is some interesting discussion going on, you disable commenting :(

sorry to complain, im sure this blog is tons of hardwork put together, i just wish it offered more spice/ variety like before :)))

        • @ SoTrue it’s only because people are constantly dressing in a wtheyy manner that everything becomes a wtheyy lol.. also.. I think they’ve done GREAT at branding those words.. now when I look at a certain celeb, whether they’re featured on this site or not.. I think “Not Quite” or “Wthey” so kudos to the girls for branding their site onto my brain! I think you guys are doing a great job and I actually wouldn’t mind some comparisons to cheaper clothing (from like Aldo, H&M, Forever21, Zara, Bebe, Guess, etc) but not for everything to have a comparison. Keep doing wat ur doing!

          • @ Sharin, “it’s only because people are constantly dressing in a wtheyy manner that everything becomes a wtheyy”

i beg to differ. lately i’ve noticed that on hhc, the people wearing the clothes determine whether it’s a wthey or a not quite. when in fact it should be the reverse.

i agree with the general sentiment of everyone in this thread. i hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but P&P, if you keep maintaining ridiculous biases like you have started lately, very soon you will lose your credibility on this site. i have found myself not even reading your commentary many times and just looking at the photos, because i almost know what you’ll say.

    • I have to agree, the blog has become rather banal of late. And not just the commentary but the posts itself. That said, I think the comparison to gofug is unfair.. Good writing requires talent, not everyone can do that. Many can appreciate it but not necessarily replicate it. The talent of the owners of this blog lies in id’ing things… they do a remarkably good job at that.

My suggestion to the owners, in order to add a bit of zing to this site would be, diversify while playing to your strengths – For e.g. let people who like a certain celeb style know how to do it for cheap through the high street. I doubt most of us can afford Balmain or Burberry.. while it o.k. to know what brand it is.. I don’t see how its helping anyone. The only purpose this site serves is for women to either b***h or lust. It could be more constructive than that. Like someone said, when they first started out they used to have home decor posts etc.. you could include some of that too. You can diversify without the blog losing its Indianess.

    • You know, as much as I agree with how P&P’s commentary isn’t particularly interesting, what I love about this blog is the power it gives to the readers, i.e the commentators. You can comment on here and felt heard…while there is really no point in commenting on Go Fug and the such. Besides, those ladies get paid to write- this is just for fun. P&P ID things and catalouge them…I don’t know. I like to give constuctive ctiticism, and I LOVE when celebrities pull it together, as rare as it is.

  5. like the pumps in the first pic thats about it. She looks rather drab in both outfits and yea totally agree about the ‘suck the cheeks in’ pose..so offputting

  6. she looks bad in both outfits. the fuschia color suits her, but the dress itself is awful and the Shoes ….. just terrible. I think people like Kareena and Ash only wear designer outfits if someone else is paying for them. I have never seen K or Ash in any high end outfits where they had to pay for the outfit from their own pocket.

  7. She looks drab in both .. nothing much to write about.
Her pout is irritating and she wud look so good without so much of make up.
As for the fuschia dress, its not good at all and i’m pretty sure its not DvF .. doesn’t look like DvF at all .. could be Gauri n Nainika though!!

  8. Come on people, stop complaining. I think P&P are doing a great job and the site is, if not more, just as interesting as it was before. Yes, about a month ago, it was a little boring. But I think P&P are back with awesome stuff. Again, its not their fault if the celebs u’d like to see are not making a public appearance.

  9. she is just looking so KAREENA. so done up and rigid. whats wrong with going natural sometimes? why need to be all doll-ed up at all times???

  10. She looks terrible in both and yep that fuschia HAS to be ‘WTHeyy’…but P&P love them some Kareena Kapoor….I mean come on now…that texture..that color..that cut…?? Are you for real?

  11. It isn’t a WTheyy because some people actually like the fuchsia one..Wtheys are those that are instantly panned.. .

It’s a bright spot of colour that on Divya Khosla would have a matching eye shadow, lip goss and shoes and a hand bag.. that’s a wthey..considering she’s not done that I think people are being too harsh on her… and I don’t even like kareena..

A lesser bling looking fuchsia ie. without the shiny material, would have been better..

  12. I think she looks good in the print dress, I think her makeup is fabulous. Whats with the ring though? Must be engaged or wanting people to think she is anyway what with the posing. The fuchsia dress is so not a wtheyy..it’s just an unflattering dress!

  13. you guys are being harsh- you’re entitled to your views and opinions, and as far as democracy is concerned, so are the owners of the site. you didn’t like the dress- boo hoo hooo. don’t blame the owners for liking it!

  14. Bad make-up, woman. Fuchsia one is not good. She is looking more flat chested than she is! those shoes are bad too. I like the printed one but honestly, the make-up and that irritating pout kills it! yawn…

  15. the blush on her cheek make her look like a clown. go easy on it kareena…

P&P i still do enjoy your blog. though i wouldnt mind some variety/ new stuff. maybe u could take reader requests and ask what they would like to see… esp since so many of them seem to have so many opinions.
