Sari Style

Another day, another reception. But giving us bit of a break from the usual tricked out lehengas was Kangana in her striking silk sari and gold-toned jewelry. You won’t be hearing us complain around here!

    • Why downplay yourself.. she has an army to make her look this good.. but if you look more natural than styled then I would say you look twice better (as opposed to half as good) … not trying to pull Kangana down, just trying to convey that we all are beautiful, no matter what

      • I have a mustard coloured (almost the same colour as this but bit richer) plain silk with any zari or embellishment saree. I wore it to our college farewell 12 years back with a rust plain silk blouse, gold studs kohl eyes and cherry lipstick. My friend helped me match the blouse fabric with the saree from Lajpat Nagar. Kangana’s look brought back the memory. I looked good and I am sure SQ will look great too. Sometimes less styled looks are much better than the celeb looks. Sorry for the long description but this sighting and SQ’s comment was a

Kangana looks good but I wish the make up was measured as her face does not match her arms and the necklace was ditched and a kangan added.

  1. Bhumi’s last post n this reminds me to ask one thing.Wanted to ask this for awhile, how much a rich Banarasi dupatta(kimkhab they call it) would cost if one picks up from Banaras itself?Any Banarasi here who can give a clue?

    • It depends where one is buying from in Benaras and depends on Saree and intricacy of design. I get mine from bunkars directly costs me 1/3rd of what it will cost me in Delhi. Benaras is my Sasural. having said that I no longer live in India so have not shopped for anything in a while, still reusing the stuff from my trousseau and generously borrowing from mum and mother in law

  3. Oh so gorgeous! This is also how non-film industry people dress up for weddings and is something that we can emulate so easily. Love the necklace pairing and never thought gold on gold could look so lovely!

  4. My favourite look from the second I saw it, but waited to see all the others – and now I conclude that it is still my favourite of the night! So beautiful and simple!

  5. BTW if one has not heard her talk about Hbr saree during some saree shop opening earlier this month…. please do hear. She made me want to open my suitcase and wear a saree that minute.

  6. What a sight for sore eyes. Just the fact that she isn’t trying to outdo the bride or doing the one boob drape earns her points. My only complaint is her floor sweeping pallu.

    • She actually talked about that in that saree shop opening video. She said it makes her feel a bit regal…. like a cape behind her. Was kind cute to hear that.

  7. How lovely. I wish she’d added a bindi or studs or a slightly more saturated lip, just for something on top to balance out the saree. But she looks great, situation-appropriate and striking yet self-possessed.

  8. Wow, another winner! Love the different shades of gold. She really knows how to dress for a friend’s/colleague’s wedding. My only complaint is we didn’t get to see her dress and go to DP’s events heheh.
Also agree with all the commenters so far -so spot on. You know she’s don’t something right when everyone on this page is in agreement and full of admiration.

  9. Love the saree. Not too hot on the blouse but I will honestly take this look as is and love it seeing that it is not One of those awful blingy designer wear.
All these weddings and bollywoidisation of events have managed to do one thing – put me off designer clothes for life and for that me and my wallet are eternally grateful!

  10. My favourite look of the night. I love one toned looks personally too. But yeah a red or orange bindi could be added or maybe some coloured flowers in the hair.
