In Manish Malhotra

Wearing Manish Malhotra, Kajol attended the Chopra-Jonas reception in Mumbai. The pop of emeralds worked surprisingly well against the moody, wintery colors of her sari. Kajol looked nice. (Also, seeing the half-velvet sari, anyone else get a Sabya flashback?)

  1. I really dislike the drape on her. I also think the jewellery could have been better accessorized. I surprisingly don’t dislike the saree, but like P & P said, there is a heavy Sabya influence on it.

  2. Sloppy one-boob show ruins the night again. I mean at least pick a blouse that is not plain black, that way its like OK I am trying to show my blouse that is why I wont pull my saree up..

  3. Sorry, this is not a great look. The blouse looks more like a sports bra. The drape looks forced. And that jewelry looks cheap and fake. And Kajol looks very uncomfortable.

  4. If this velvet had a sabya tag, I think it would have got more likes. It has all the sabya elements to it; the styling and design and the hair. Kajol faltered with her drape. It’s a sabya design on velvet, that’s how it looks to me. Kajol could have got most of it right in this look with an appropriate drape.

    • I think this saree looks like a cheap imitation of the Sabya velvet half sarees. His ones are a classic and as someone mentioned were great when they came out. His sarees can easily be differentiated by have much more delicate work not this senselessly patterned, ugly-looking work, and much more complementary colour schemes and he balances all his velvet half sarees with light sheer fabrics to offset the heaviness of the velvet. The full velvet sarees are kept more plain throughout. Anyone who knows his work well will never mistake this for a genuine Sabya.

      • Sorry I sent before finishing. I meant they have much more delicate work*
And meant to say even if it have the Sabya tag I don’t think it would get more likes.

  5. What a let down. I thought Kajol didn’t do the one boob drape.
I kind of like the deep, rich colours of this sari. Wish it had been draped better. Hate the necklace.

  6. Yuck! Nothing works. I did use to like the half velvet saree of Sabya, they looked very royal.?this looks cheap with the embellishments in the pallu. What is with this obsession of adding bling to anything and everything? What’s wrong with just keeping it plain?
Do not like the necklace, looks very tacky and cheap, particularly with the saree.
