p&p, why is gauri & nainika so popular in the west & why are no other Indian designers that popular?
One reason is that they are all making bridal or bridal-like outfits. This is because the Indian market has been reduced to the Wedding season/Bollywood.
their designs definitely are more in-line with western sensibilities. (agree to previous comment on wedding/bollywood)
They use rich fabric, more plain fabric and lesser prints(even the prints are abstract rather indian), dramatic gowns are appropriate for red carpets.. they focus on how they fall and hold shape.
lot of factors i guess.
happy to see indian designers in global stage.
