In Pankaj and Nidhi

For Esha, it was a green Pankaj and Nidhi dress, one that she looked fabulous in. If I had a minor gripe, it would the ring she eventually wore to the show. Much preferred the one that she was spotted in the stylist’s pic.

P.S. Why does this look remind me so much of Deepika? Perhaps, its those gold pumps (Louboutins). Just me?

  2. Dear P & P,
i allow my self to ask for help at your blog.

I m nor Indian or pakistani, but i will be attending my husbands sisters wedding in a few months. she is pakistani, so her wedding gown will be in red color obviously.
I have a bordeaux dress with golden details. it it my national clothing. I would love to wear it at her wedding. Is it appropriate to wear same color as the bride?

i m looking forward to read your thoughts.
    Regards Saba

    • I’ve seen plenty of guests wear red and maroon to Indian and Pakistani weddings. As long as it’s not so grand or intricate as to upstage the bride I’d say its kosher
And how lovely of you to want to wear something that represents your culture

    • Being the sister in law of the bride, you will also be required to wear a bright colour and a really dressy ornate outfit. A maroon and gold outfit sounds absolutely appropriate. Just see that you don’t upstage the bride.

Also a small tip. Don’t wear something which has a lot of skin show

    • I’d say go for it but it all depends on your sister in law really. When my husband’s brother got engaged, his fiance and I ordered a dress from the same designer, and her entire family freaked out when I walked into the room on the day of the engagement, created a huge fuss that I had on the same exact dress as the bride. Turned out, not only was it a different dress but totally different colors as well! Hers was beige while mine was emerald green! And to think the drama they created until the bride walked in. A few months later for their wedding, the bride and her mother asked my mother in law to get across to me that the bride was wearing colors such as so and so, and ‘people’ should avoid wearing similar colors. Rare yes but some people are just crazyyyyyy :P

  3. Playful, sexy and chic. Everything falls in place so well. I agree with you on the ring. Bad choice. I wonder how she sat through the taping without injuring anyone with that murder weapon for a ring. What’s with these bollywood ladies and garish rings. Just the other day we had Madam Vidya with her katori for a cocktail ring where she probably kept her dry fruits and muched her way through the taping of the show. This is ring thing is a dangerous trend and risks serious injury to people around you. ROTFL!!!!

  4. So finally you said it too .. This girl bears a resemblance to Deepika a lot! it’s not just the styling. Nonetheless, she looks pretty :)

  5. I think its her hairdo and pumps that remind you of Deepika. I personally find her a lot prettier and exotic looking than Deepika.
    Love that color on her.

  7. the styling is similar to deepika’s. deepika’s also worn this exact colour twice. once in a similar pencil silhouette.

  8. She reminds me of Deepika here because of their similar hairdo. But I think Esha dresses up better and doesn’t try to alter her complexion as much as Deepika does…

    • I can only speak for the blog and I assure you, it’s all above board around here. The contest has been updated with winners’ names and they have been notified. Of the ones who’ve written back to us, Holii has already initiated the process to get their prizes to them.

If you have a specific grievance, write in to us. Thanks.

  10. People comparing her to Deepika are doing a disservice to both women. Deepika has a completely different look as well as body shape (lanky, lean, not very hippy), in fact Deepika’s body type is more similar to Priyanka Chopra’s. Esha Gupta has a very womanly shape and she’s making this dress look a lot more than what it’s probably worth. It looks fabulous on her! Barring the dimple, I see no resemblance and if she can act as well as Deepika can I can see her running for top spot in the pecking order soon.

  11. I am surprised at the number of people willing to just cursorily skim over an updo, golden pumps and dimples branding two distinctly different women as alleged twins..Deepika is so much more mainstream and slightly androgynous, lanky, even attractively masculine at times…from the day I saw her in those Close up ads, stunning as she was, one knew she was going to make it big in your conventional “Bollywood heroine” way…Esha though is a different story, with her delicate upturned nose, strong brows and Grecian angles she has a very muse like quality to her face, all dark, sultry, teasing, hauntingly feminine at the same time bohemian even with her conventional designer dresses…the overly used and abused “exotic” truly applies to her. Deepika maybe statuesque, but Esha’s face is unforgettable Deepika looks polite and well bred at best Esha has this regal, aloof dignity to her features that reminds me in a way of Lena Heady…please keep simplistic labeling to your toolboxes please.
