In Marchesa

Wearing a Marchesa gown, Deepika walked the red carpet at Cannes. Deepika took a chance with that somewhat risqué gown but boy did it pay off. Wearing her hair down it soft waves, the actor rounded out the look with a berry-toned lip, diamond jewelry and pair of ankle-strap sky high heels. Loved that color on her; Deepika worked every bit of that gown.

  1. She looks gorgeous! This is what I’ve wanted to see Deepika in her whole XXX tour. A dazzling semi sheer fitted gown that shows off her amazing body. She was one of the best dressed of the opening night. I wish her makeup was better, less is more in her case. Hope her next look is as good or better. Well done!

    • Best dressed where? Her look was just ok & underwhelming based on other comments on other blogs. This look is more AMFAR gala than Cannes red carpet. No one has brought it this year so far but it is only day 1. Even Fan BingBing & Jessica Chastain failed to bring excitement after so many successful runs at Cannes. The only noteworthy looks from Day 1 are Araya Hargate in Ralph & Russo and Sara Sampaio in Zuhair Murad. Though Araya’s look was done before by Sonam last year so it’s nothing new. Sara’s look is a formula we’ve seen many times from Zuhair Murad; updo & a big embroidered gown.

  2. Have been waiting for you guys to post this. What a fantastic debut, she looks like a total goddess! Love the color and that it’s sexy but not over the top either.
The best part, she seems to be comfortable and having fun which shows too.

    • Completely agree. She looks like a million bucks! Working every bit of that gorgeous coloured gown. And yes, she looks happy & content (& why not?) and that is translating in pictures. Each element of this look is in a perfect measure – nothing over the top or ending up overwhelmed in an attempt to go big. Beyond perfect!

  3. She is looking great! Looks like she has gone pantyless for this dress, so that’s a first for her in regards to public appearances.

  4. Hardly a risqué dress. The colour suits her but she should have put her hair up. It’s hiding the shoulder which makes the dress stand out in some way. Now it just looks like a regular neckline. Her other 2 pre-main event looks were also just meh.

  5. I do not mean to be fixated on her looks, but she is clearly better looking than anyone who walked the red carpet in cannes today.

      • I have to respectfully disagree. Bella wore a fitted pink gown with a slit. Wadrobe malfunctions apart, it’s a look which has been done a million times. Heck, Uma Thurman wore a similar colored outfit. Bella looked good because she is a good looking woman but Deepika’s dress was glamorous and sexy and in a color which was not worn frequently on the red carpet.

      • Bella Hadid had her privates on show on the Cannes red carpet for the second year in a row. I don’t think one should try to emulate that, it is like wanting to look like the Kartrashians!

  6. It’s her debut and she got it right!! I don’t mind the hair either. It brings a certain playfulness to the look than making it too formal. On an aside the comments made me wonder if I was on HHC or Pinkvilla ?

  7. She was totally killing it today in all her appearances!!! She is a remarkable beauty!! Of Poise Grace Elegance & Beauty. TROLLS GET A LIFE. SHE IS TO MAKE YOU ALL PROUD!!!

  8. The make-up (minus the eyebrows) is the only saving grace. Hair looks fried. The style of the dress seems outdated. A clubbing mini wrapped in net??? Unfortunately, wearing something that looks like a prom knock-off doesn’t help one stand out…

  9. Deepika is a beautiful woman, but she needs to find a stylist who needs to end this snooze fest, pronto. This Marchesa is not a horrible look, not the worst we have seen from her but neither is it amazing ( read boring ), that includes the make up and hair too and it is a shame because Cannes is possibly the best platform, the best red carpet to be noticed on.

  10. She hardly took any risk. Her hair and make up are same old. And especially here that hair needs to be up. It’s taking away from an otherwise beautiful dress. Nevertheless, she looks nice but nothing Cannes worthy about this.

  11. This is so gorgeous outfit! Whatte beauty she is… Sigh!

    Major girl crush on her!!!

On a second thought, I am not liking the makeup much,
But that’s Deepika Padukone, She looks so Deepika every time!

  12. She looks stunning, love the color on her but yes the hair is covering the top part of the dress. Overall i love the look.

  13. I wish the hair was pinned up, you can’t see the shoulder detail or the gorgeous diamond earrings. But that said, she does look beautiful

  14. Love the choice of outfit. It gets attention and she gets noted, which is what you want at a debut. It’s bold, risque, and she’s working every bit of that gown. Seriously! I can’t take my eyes off her here. Killed it.

  15. Great choice of gown. The colour is majestic and the risque aspect makes it all the more interesting. This is just the right amount of dramatic for a debut! Love it..she’s ooozing glamour. This Deepika has been MIA for a while now.

  16. She looks gorgeous. Hair looks good too. So good that she didnt sport that stupid tight middle parted updos. And about wanting to look caucasian, lol, majority of the desis want to look white. India being the highest seller of “whitening” products stands proof of it.

  17. jeez, the hate here.
Deepika looks ravishing. The outfit is a headturner, risque without being tacky. And I really am concerned about the eyesight of the poster who believes she’s gone pantyless — can s/he not see the bodysuit beneath all those layers of net?
The make-up is spot-on international. She looks like she belongs on the red carpet.

  18. I like how deepika looks.
But honestly I wish she cud show her skin and fabulous body more.
This is not the best gown or the best color .. wish she did smth to her hair but not leaving it !!!

  19. Deepika is a beautiful woman, it’s a given that she would look great even if the outfit and styling is half assed. She looks good here, but expected her to knock it out of the park and make it truly Cannes worthy and memorable. Which its not. I feel her many of her Xander outings were better than this.

  20. Its tacky. Like a bathing suit and a net cover up. Her hair looks absolutely awful. I hate the dye job shr has anyway and this mess makes it look worse. Her best look was the red maxi despite the print.
The plum colour isnt for a summer European event and that burgundy lipstick with it lools garish.

Look at fan bing bing or ella or even uma thurman for a cannes red carpet look. This just screams Bollywood in a not so good way.

  23. This is what a Delhi teenager would wear on an evening out to Hauz Khas or Khan Market. A Cannes outfit- even if it’s bad, the worst- must have definition, stand out, be memorable. Something the world talks about for years. This is blink and you miss it. Sad really.

      • LOL!!! this made me laugh harder than anything. I lived in Delhi over a decade ago but now visit it every couple of years. Didn’t realize it has become such a fashion Mecca that teenagers hang out in Khan Market/Hauz Khas in elaborate evening gowns! I must have been living under a rock

  24. Beautiful Deepika. I love the whole look all the way from Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean. Coming to this blog is my every morning ritual like coffee and it is funny that there are a lot of new commenters or maybe just one commenter with various names posting negative about Deepika. Please dont let this blog site become pinkvilla :-( I hate to read indians bashing their own, you all should really strive and big up your celebrities when they are creating such a stir in other countries. I am of east indian decent and Deepika is very beautiful and she looks beautiful. In her interviews she is not catty or make hateful remarks about other actresses. She is truly a diva inside and out. I am rooting for to seeing more of her in Cannes.

  25. I love Deepika, a beautiful face and gorgeous body with brains. But this look is seriously underwhelming and sub-par. This reminds of Mallika Sherawat’s previous Cannes looks, panned by P and P in past. She sure could have done better.

  28. This gown was disappointing for DP first red carpet appearance at Cannes. The colour aged her and the styling is simply boring.

On an aside, some comments here are so vicious . Being a regular on this blog, I must say usually PnP do a good job filtering them out , don’t know why they got through this time. So much negativity!
