Besides walking the red carpet, Deepika had a very busy Thursday that started off with her sporting a very Farah Fawcett do with denims and a white tee, continuing into stripes separates from Tome NYC. Interviews with the media saw her in a Philosophy diamond print maxi and finally end of the evening in a floral Monique Lhuillier gown.

Have a favorite? Mine were the maxi looks. She looked statuesque in both!

    • Couldn’t have said it better. She looks nice and all but it doesn’t seem like her . She doesn’t have that inherent , natural style.

    • And can you describe what exactly it is? What is her personality? What do you think she should wear? If she does safe looks – she is boring. If she tries something edgy – it isn’t her. What is her natural style? Isn’t the ability to carry off these clothes on a red carpet an ability? These comments are neither constructive nor helpful – just vague and seem to originate from a personal distaste.

  1. I don’t get her ‘chest out’ poses at all. Even in sarees she used to posed like that, specially when she was new in the industry. Looks very tacky. She is beautiful but I don’t find her graceful much.

  2. Did not like the ‘retro ‘ look with the pink maxi and plastic heart earrings one bit. Complete misfit in terms of theme & didn’t match her personality. It was so random and average.
The floral maxi at the end was nicer but fell flat on her & too much hair in the front. Also, not Cannes worthy.
She looked best in the denims purely for oozing confidence. You can see she felt sexy in it.

  3. Love all the feminine dresses and maxis. She looks gorgeous in them. I don’t care for the denim and T, however I must she does look darn sexy.

  4. How stunning does she looked in a simple white T-shirt !!! Gosh
I think this year she fared a lot better than her last year appearance.

  5. Tome is my favourite . Appropriate , easy breezy yet stylish . The rest the less said the better. The denim look with the pose , the glasses and earrings all super clash: makes it so efforted aka a starlet . Not required from a star like her . The pink maxi is tooo crowded belt earrings everything. It’s like a shop. The other two are again boring!! Nothing right or wrong. But unlike kangana’s she has zero personality and hence we all emphasize on clothes! Nothin novel! Capes capes go away! Hightime

  6. I think the denim and white tees is the one that is most in line with her personal style. Its not exactly a look for Cannes but she looks gorgeous. That’s the only one I like here. Rest are okay. But later, the red carpet look that she did was awesome. But she is doing much, much better this year.

  7. P&P need to retire and delegate the assessment/ reviewing bit to any of the many great writers posting comments here. Either you guys play it safe or are too tired to put much thought into the captions/ write ups but this is not the celeb fashion critique I signed up for and have enjoyed for a long time. I need to honestly know what you two think of these looks. Is that too much to ask?

    • Apologies. We were travelling and had just got back home. And were dead tired! :) Sometimes we provide the critique. Sometimes we let you folks do it because this site is not just about us two. It’s about a place where everyone can provide their opinion and have a discussion.

    • I don’t get the bitterness from some of the people. From attacks on actress’ personalities, styles, background, taste, and bodies, to attacks on PnP for their views…
People have got to calm down! This is just a site about what other people are wearing while doing their jobs. It is ONLY that. We are not discussing a dire crisis here.

  8. Deepika is such a gorgeous woman and there is so much more she can dazzle in. She looks good but somewhere the luster is clearly lacking. I like look 1 the best; she looks sexy in that simple yet fitted to the T pieces. Somehow that confidence does not come through in look 2 and look 4.

  9. Dude, her Cannes debut was so good. What happened to her? After doing so well last year, what happened to her this year? I’m sure she dresses up better in daily life. These looks make me feel bad for her.

  10. Well, at least she has ditched the oily, middle parted hairstyle. I think she looks rather nice in the pink gown (with a different hairstyle). But nothing very striking.

  12. Loved her beige maxi look… The hairstyle and makeup was on point and why the Zuhair murad look isn’t posted here.. She, for a change, looked ethereal in that!

  13. I knew there was a reason I stopped visiting this site :)
It used to be a place where people would discuss fashion objectively over “personalities.” There’s such a disconnect now compared to the other fashion sites. Pointless now. Adios.

  14. I think her hair and makeup looks great, however the outfits are very lacklustre. Yes, they do look better put together and styled compared to her previous outings, but there is nothing special about them. Like she looks good in the denim and tee, but a denim and tee as a look? Very mediocre. The novelty and drama is missing.

  15. Serious question: is there an underlying theme this year at Cannes? Or at least for the brands Deepika and Kangana represent? Kangana’s looks channel the 60’s with her Breakfast at Tiffany’s meets An evening in Paris while Deepika is giving me major 70’s vibes. From her Farah Fawcett denim look to her psychedelic Elizabeth Montgomery maxis. May be the brands are focusing on retro looks?
