In Sabyasachi

Comment image 37

Though she wore red like many others at the event, she was among the very, very few to wear a sari. And in her sparkly Sabyasachi sari, shine Deepika did on the IIFA green carpet. Pulled back hair, red lip and gorgeous earrings all made for a stand out appearance. Though the sari feels like an oft-repeated look, no denying that Ms. Padukone looked lovely; we like.

  2. She looks GORGEOUS!!
Are you saying that sari is a repeated look for her or for people in general? How is that you always have something weird to say about Deepika and no matter how ghastly some actresses dress (namely Kangana – love her acting, so no bias – purely from a fashion standpoint) or Sonam, Jackie – it is their “go-to style” or their comfort zone (Katrina)?
Deepika has her own sense of style and she pretty much owns whatever she wears. Her preference is sarees, she has said that repeatedly. (I guess that was a rant) ;0

    She be amazing!!

    • You are over thinking this. I meant this style of half-and-half sari from Sabyasachi having been spotted often on various other people makes it seem like an all too familiar a look. Yes, she be looking amazing. :)

  3. Spectacular! This is perfect for an international red carpet appearance. Maybe not so ground breaking in India but perfect to represent your country abroad. I wish Sonam and Ash would dress in OTT saris a la Madame Rekha at Cannes for at least one of their red carpet appearance. Cannes is perfect for going OTT in a grand classy way like Deepika has pulled it off in KL.
I am so glad Deepika didn’t wear a necklace. The sari is statement enough.

  4. Only Deepika could wear an embellished sari that’s two toned, one of them being red (an overwhelming color in my opinion) and red lips, a small strap and STILL look amazing! She looks gorgeous and elegant in a sari that would look, let’s face it, trashy on any other person.

  5. How can someone look this AMAZING!! You don’t need an elaborate gown or an overtly styled look to look gorgeous. Deepika proves it.
P.S : my comment has nothing to do with sonam kapoor or any other actress

  6. How beautiful does she look! That saree would have looked tarty on anyone else. But lady deepika manages to make even this elegant.

  9. :O :O :O

Look at the last row of pics and especially the second one. What features, what skin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
Frankly, the saree is too gaudy for my choice but she makes it look greaaaaaattttttt! I have noticed, she has a great collection of oh-so-gorgeous earrings!

Still can't get my eyes off that second pic in the last row.

  10. How many times will she do the same look…I am bored..We all know she looks amazing in saree and this is no different.

    • Yes Neharika! She should try dressing like a clown the next time. Because looking outstanding and carrying it off well is a big snooze fest for you! Its because of comments like yours that Sonam is a laughing stock these days with her every changing looks to keep “bored fashionistas ” like you happy. Proud of deepika. She looks great within her fashion boundaries. And that how a personal style is created.

      • In which fashion dictionary does the opposite of doing the same look mean dressing up like a clown. She could have worn a saree but may be played with prints. Sonam atleast takes risks. If she doesnt care being a laughing stock I am not sure what irks you.

        • Lol. Neharika, wearing such a gaudy saree and still owning it doesn’t equate to taking risks? Then I don’t know what does ‘taking risks’ mean in your dictionary. (Maybe Sonam’s sesame street dress and ending up looking foolish). Deepika’s way of carrying each outfit spells that she has got fashion basics right. Anyway, Deepika never exactly ‘strives’ to appear like some fashionista yet ends up looking like one. Now don’t say that because she has got height, body etc etc.. Sonam can offset that by wearing dresses as per her body type yet standing out. But NO, she has to make a fool of herself and yet have an overly arrogant mouth by going around telling somebody to stop wearing tight clothes or calling someone else aunty.

          • look I am not Sonam fan & I could care less for either Sonam or deepika. Nor do I want to get into an argument about whose fashion sense is better. That saree is ugly & deepika still makes it worth & kudos to her. But to me there is nothing new about this look. We have seen her & others do sabya sarees a zillion times. You can hate Sonam as much as you want or love deepika as much as you want, I really don’t give a damn!

  12. Love! And love that she wore Indian. It seems all actresses think that to be on the fashion charts at awards you have to wear a gown. DP proves you don’t

  13. I LOVE Deepike. SO let’s get that out of the way. BUT … I’m not so sure about all those red sequins. In photograph perhaps it’s looking less … jarring … I have my sincere doubts about how it might be looking in person. …. …. … … … … … … it’s like her face … it’s there … and then … there is nothing else … … visible!

  14. That’s got to be one of the blingiest and ugliest Sabyasachi creations ever. i’m sure she could have found a better Sari to wear

    • Agree…Sabyasachi…what happened to your classy aesthetic? Did you go out bling shopping just for this saree???too over the top! love the shade of red but everything else is a downer.

  15. This has to be the most hideous saree ever made. I think Sabyasachi just wanted to see if people really would buy whatever he churned out, even it was crap.. Turns out they do.

  16. It’s refreshing to see a saree on the red carpet. I’m not a fan of the saree itself but then Deepika always looks good in one. Love the make-up.

    • It might be repetitive but NOT boring! I don’t know what’s the fuss around changing it up every now and then! If a person likes a certain way of dressing ,makeup, hairstyle then why not let them sport it.
