Seems like that’s what Ms. Mandira Bedi did, doesn’t it?

  2. She had such pretty hair, I don’t know why she went for the matronly cut!

I don’t like either of the saris but I guess I prefer the blue one if I had to choose.

  4. Everything Bedi wears is just so flash, that she rarely looks anything more than a glossy, glittery powderpuff girl. She’s beautiful but all that shine blinds me. It totally oversh any sense of fashion we may see.

  5. Mandira has her own style that may not appeal to all. Both the sarees are horrendous. But this woman is the owner of this look. Her confidence shows through. She can carry this off because she has worn jewelry carefully. Had she worn an elaborate necklace or any other accessory, she would have set of the alarm bells on the Whattheheyyyy meter clanging! Still she could have whittled off the watch and bangles…

  6. K first of all I understand this is an INDIAN fashion blog.. you guys have said so yourself in your “about” section.. then why diss everything Indian? India is all about loud and vibrant colours, embroidery, sparkle etc. Especially when it comes to sari’s. Yes, I know what “elegant, simple” sari’s are but I’m just saying these sari’s are beautiful too and shouldn’t be dogged on for being “tacky”.

We get what ‘India’ is about and it is its particular vivacity that enthralls us and if recent fashion developments are anything to go by, the global scene seems to be just as enthralled. And that to us is a thing of pride.

Agreed that many saris celebrate color, technique etc (as do other forms of clothing) but just by that virtue alone we cannot give it its undue acclaim.

Have you read our post on Shobha De? (http://www.highheelconfidential.com/shobha-de-superstar-india/) We loved everything about it, saris, jewelry et all. Or our post on Kirron Kher? (http://www.highheelconfidential.com/kirron-kher-at-woodstock-villa-premiere/) We mentioned that we love her taste in pairing her saris with her batuas.

When its good, its good and you’ll hear us admit it first. And when its not, its not.

Its just that we don’t subscribe to ‘jingoism’ when it comes to fashion.

p and p have praised lots of indian stuff. at the top of my head i remember a post of sonam kapoor wearing a really bright anuradha vakil outfit. it was bright red and blue. and i can also recall a post on tabu wearing a lovely kurta.
