Beyonce performed on Sunday evening at the Ambani-Piramal wedding festivities wearing a red Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla gown with jewellery from Anita Dongre Pinkcity and a gold Falguni and Shane Peacock bodysuit.

She sure looked amazing in both!

  1. Normal people hire the locally popular band baaja for their sangeet. For Ambanis, Bollywood/Hollywood is the local band baaja with Beyoncé being the star attraction.

As usual, Queen Bey is amazing.

  2. Tacky, but nothing takes away beyonces Aura. this whole “sangeet” with Gauri-SRK, Aish-Abhi ‘s stage numbers makes me cringe.

  4. Am I in minority again? These looks are amazing? Really? From what perspective exactly are they amazing I am failing to see, genuinely. She will look amazing in anything With that confidence but as far as we are discussing clothes, the looks are horrid to me!

    • Definitely not in minority, I’m sure most are Gaga only over beyond and don’t care her outfits, she seen in such attire in performances and songs. Wouldn’t expect her to do a lehenga or garara and perform for Indian wedding. Also, didn’t know Abu Sandeep and Anita D would do such horrible gawdy clothes.. definitely made to order keeping up with her persona.

  5. PnP going gaga over a firangi wearing an Indian designer even though there is nothing original or aesthetic about these looks. Not sure why we’re still kneeling fot validation from our colonial masters.

  6. i hate that red outfit…looks like a piece you would pick up at a footpath stall for an Arabian belly dancing themed costume party. which is exactly her role at this wedding…literally a paid nautanki dancer so i guess it is fitting for the occasion. but the designers could have given her something more divine and less cheapo looking.

the falguni bodysuit looks great on her even though i think they could have done better with the design.

  7. That matha-patti brings down the look several notches. She really looks very out of place.
Personally, I didn’t like the fact she wore a leotard to a wedding performance in India. I know that’s her style, but the actual star power is in adaptability. Adapting to different sensibilities and occasions. This ain’t Grammy’s or Coachella. It is a wedding in India!
It looks like a caricature. Imagine if someone at your regular VIP traditional wedding turns up to sing/dance like this!

    • The ambani would have told her then to dress ‘decently’ if they wanted an indian wedding performance, whatever that is. They chose Beyoncé for Beyoncé.

  8. The red dress is horrid, but guess what? It’s perfect for someone taking the stage. It has all the right ingredients for a concert – atrociously over the top, bling, bling, some more bling and a design no one would wear normally. You would never find Beyonce wearing something like this other than the stage. As far as the leotard goes, I read a few comments where the ladies didn’t like her wearing it at a wedding/sangeet. This is Bey’s signature outfit – one she wears to all concerts. She was performing here, not attending the sangeet, so she gets to wear her performance clothes. Oh! and also – The Queen wears whatever the hell she wants. Coz she slays! ??

    • The performance was AT a sangeet…it wasn’t a drunken concert in the californian desert or an awards show meant to get tongues wagging the next day! You sound like one of the bey-hive.
I love Beyonce too, don’t get me wrong. These might be her performance clothes, but they need to match the arena. Any performer has to match the spirit of the occasion. Cannot compare a wedding performance to a super bowl!
If ‘The Queen wears whatever the hell she wants’ regardless of occasion or dressing sensibilities, maybe she doesn’t slay after all!

      • Ok, so much to unpack here. But primarily the questions are – Whose tongue is wagging? So, you want Beyoncé in a saree? Stop imposing forced cultural norms on a global performer. If you want someone in a saree or ethnic clothes – then then get an Indian artiste. Oh! actually they did have a host of them doing exactly that. When you ask Beyoncé to “perform” you get just that – songs, outfits – the whole package. Criticize her if she is a guest and decided to wear a leotard. Not because she came there as a performer and did her thing. You don’t need to be from the Beyhive to make that distinction!

        • Also, the tongue wagging comment was clearly misunderstood. I meant her performances/videos usually get tongues wagging for their costumes, intensity or some type of novelty – which wasn’t the intention in this case. Why get so worked up?

          • “‘forced cultural norms’. Wow didn’t know the only two clothing options in the world are leotards and sarees. So much to learn!” – WHAT? Didn’t you say that she should dress according to the “arena” (whatever that means)? Also when someone says “tongues wagging” they refer to gossiping. Kuch bhi! Looks like you’re getting all worked up for what Beyonce chose to wear, instead of commenting on the outfits, like the rest. Calm down!

  9. Ugh AJSK should seriously be outlawed, as if ruining deepika’s reception look wasn’t enough?
I wish beyonce just stuck to her regular costume designers and wore her usual majestic stuff for the stage.
Agree with commenters above, she’s not here to attend this wedding nor does she have to “adapt” and dress for it. She probably didn’t stick around after her performance. In any case, they wanted Bey to perform and paid a ridiculous sum to watch her do what she does in her element – don’t think anyone should expect beyonce to dress according to the ambani wedding memo in this scenario.

    • A leotard would look out of place in any wedding – not just at Ambanis.
There is no need for the quotation marks around adapt giving snide remarks here. Everyone has a right to comment, that’s what the comments section is for. I don’t like women in leotards on the stage during a wedding function – beyonce, madonna or whoeever it might be. You might like it.
And to your point about “adapt” – if she were called to perform at a funeral, would you then say she can show up and do her thing anyway she wants? Everyone adapts to the situation. It is funny how people get so offended if someone else points it out!
