A R, Anil and Irrfan At The Oscars

Looks like A.R. gave in to the studio demands because instead of wearing ethnic, he went the suit route. Very very disappointed I must say!

Anil wore his favorite designer, Armani again. Irrfan, also like Anil and Dev, wore a suit with a bow-tie and Loveleen looked really pretty in a sari, but I still haven’t found better pictures of her.

  3. AR Rehman did wear a sherwani during the perfomaces and when he came on screen. He also dedicated oe award to His Country India – Peopleplease do not get ahead of yourself…he did wear the sherwani after all

  4. he changed! he won!

freida presented. my god, girls in india – the likes of an aishwarya rai – must be cringing on the insides.

freida is indeed a lucky gal. a lucky gal who didn’t really impress with her gown choice. it looked far too blingy on stage when she presented and the color didn’t do anything for her. :|

  5. yay…rahman wore the bandhgala….n wore it with pride and dignity! btw the person standing behind dev in the last pic seems to be wearing a sabya….or is it just me (and my obsession with his designs?)

  6. Congrats to AR Rehman; with all the hopes and expectations surrounding him, he can now sleep peacefully.
Love her gown, hair could have been tied better and maybe a brighter lipstick or gloss would have been nicer.

  7. First off people, let it be known that Freida is there because of India, because of Bollywood, and because she is on the shoulders of the giants. Why should Ash cringe? She is a legend in her own right. Freida so blew it, with her wimpy hairstyle, with a dress too old for her, and something she did not carry off well. She was overshadowed by the bevy of beauties, and the true truly deserving stars of the movie….the people from director to the tiniest actor. Go SDM!

  8. I think we should all be happy for Freida. She was part of the movie and she deserved to be there. What was so bad in her presentation? At least she was herself. Thank God no fake accent a la Ash.

It is tragic that Freida’s worst gown had to be for the Oscars though!!

  9. Dia,
I think lady behind Dev is Mrs.Rahman ,Saira , she was in a black and red salwar kameez I think .
It will be nice if P&P can cover her too.
Congrats to Rahman and Resul and all the other winners,
I liked Freida’s dress in the photos but on stage somehow it didn’t stand out

  10. I wish there were more pics of Lovleen Tandon. She is a very classic taste and looks gorgeous.
I don’t like Freida’s gown at all. With all that ornate work ..she would have dazzled had the color been a more muted cream.

  11. In the third picture, I can see somebody’s legs in black chooridar..I like the colors and the outfit is probably sabyasachi’s. Are there more pics?

  12. seriously disappointed bigtime with freidas gown… lookin at this one, the pink one of the baftas seemed like heaven.
seems a little too old for her and doesnt go with her cherubic personality.. and looked blingy on stage…
well who cares, SLUMDOG PICKED 8 OSCARS.. woohooo

  13. I agree with someone else who said that the lady in black and red churidar is Rahman’s wife because I caught a glimpse of her standing behind Rahman during Danny Boyle’s interview on TV with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

I too was disappointed with Freida’s look on the red carpet. Somehow her face was lacking the glow this time. And I agree that the color of the gown was lovely but I think it looked better on stage and in pics than on the red carpet, although unfortunately for her the stage background happened to be blue too so she did not stand out. I just expected her to look her best, I don’t think this was it.

  14. Also, it occured to me that the one-shouldered style with the left arm in the sheer beaded full length sleeve coupled with the mermaid style of the gown comes quite close to wearing a sari ;)

  15. bharti, thanks. I’m glad it actually was a sabya (and it wasnt my obsession talking), but couldnt make out whether it would be anil kapoor’s wife or rahman’s. and seeing saira in it was a pleasant surprise.

  16. Not good pics of the dress…the dress has a really unique sleeve which has been hidden in all these pics..
its a gorgeous dress but i prefer her in acid colours, makes her complexion pop..

  17. Yeah the unique sleeve is missing, on channel E! the fashion police presenters all loved her dress, and mentioned the bolly/holly mix.

Definetly not her best outfit, but its nice aswell. She looks stunning though and spoke very well.

Anil Kapoor was a bit OTT and spoke to much sometimes i felt.

  18. Jaybee — I hate Frieda’s dress, hair and jewellery. The dress is such an awful color and all that lace looks really cheap, and really does not flatter her body type. India has such beautiful fabrics and prints and the most stunning jewellery. She would have looked great if she had done something more ethnic.

  19. @Jaybee.. no you are not.. i don’t like the dress either.. and actually had to blink and look again when i saw her on red carpet yesterday.. oh well

  20. I think the dress on frieda is the kind you get in the friday markets of Goa (mapusa and Anjuna beach). I thought the dress looked ccheap…and thankfully a lot of designers on msn thought so too..
