In Zara

At the screening of her movie, Anushka served up a whole lot of red in matching separates from Zara. Given that she kept her hair and make-up simple, the graphic pink Sophia Webster pumps added just the pop the look needed. Once again, nothing to fault here- she owned her look!

P.S: See Shilpa Shetty wear these Zara pants here.

    • Completely agree. Sui Dhaaga is supposed to be about empowering the Indian kaarigar. So, why not have the stars of the movie flaunt hand-made, hand-woven garments, or Indian designers?! That would fit so well with the tone and purpose of the film. Wearing Zara seems a bit tone-deaf by Anushka’s stylist.

Also, I really *used* to like stars wearing high-street brands. It made them seem grounded. But now, I really wish stars and their stylists would wear and promote clothes from designers who take good care of their tailors, kaarigars, workers. There’s so many designers in India with a good, strong conscience. Why wear and promote high-street brands who continue to make their clothes in sweatshops in Bangladesh? Zara, H&M and others have signed some safety treaties after the Rana Plaza disaster–but, from what I’ve read, not much has changed about the horrible working conditions of the people making their–our!–clothes.

    • Agree. Why not wear handloom and hand woven variety and support the local weavers? So many of these skilled labour left their work and moved to the cities to work as auto drivers, rickshaw pullers, house hold help and construction labour, etc. The celebrities could use few occasions to showcase the beauty of handlooms. Infact, the handlooms are eco-friendly, long lasting and very pretty.

      • Totally. Such a missed opportunity to showcase local handlooms. Would have been perfect to see her in local weaves/styles in the cities they went to promote in. Chickan in lucknow, lehriya in Jaipur, chanderi in mp etc.

  1. It looks like she just needs a helmet n ski boots n she’s all set for the Swiss alps. Silly outfit for a movie screening. She could’ve worn something simple n breezy .

  2. This isn’t just another promotion. It’s the screening. The grand finale. And the outfit doesn’t go with the movie at all. The whole point of the evening is the movie. Missed opportunity.
