In Lanvin

Ms. Dewan picked a Lanvin Pre-Fall animal print dress with matching Lanvin pumps. She avoided a Lanvin trifecta by picking a pink Spring 2011 Louis Vuitton monogram clutch to contrast the prints.

I really love this dress, alas with the pumps and the clutch, the look becomes really busy. She wore the dress better at Twinkle/Akshay’s 10th anniversary bash, a pic of which you can find here.

  1. Oooooooh she looks good. I like the fact that the shoes are the same print. And her waist is really well defined. If you skip her face, there’s something very Leighton Meerster-y about her. I’m not sure you guys see what I see, but I see something there.

  2. Love the frock, don’t mind the clutch at all, but the shoes could have been given a miss!!
Why doesn’t she do something about the flat hair…a ponytail…messy side braid…chignon…something??
And is it just me or does she look like she’s smelling something bad in every single picture?

  3. No no no no no no! If we dissect the model’s outfit, she is wearing patterned stockings with a patterned dress and scarf and yet she looks fierce! The pair of gloves really amp the outfit and pulls it together.

Anu on the other hand- that hair, the clutch, the belt- completely ruins it. Trust Anu to take a marvelous dress and completely bow it to smithereens of ugliness.

    No! No! No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!No!

Also mixing patterns does not necessarily make stuff busy. Its how you match. Perhaps its her awkwardness that comes out. Whatever it is…she sucks at this.

  5. I guess humbugs like us should be deliriously happy though.

With our limited budgets where scoring designer clothes involves crushing skulls at the sample sales and silent treatments from the better half (because we have nothing to eat in our fridge as the budgeted money was spent on a pair of shoes or dress that is incomprehensibly called a “need”), we can still put together amazing outfits and rock them.

Here is to us ladies who love, live fashion and ACTUALLY GET FASHION!

    • ‘Getting’ fashion is a very subjective thing. Fashion is about aesthetic sensibilities, which vary completely from person to person, its not a calculus question that you ‘get’.

And its a bit presumptuous for any of us to self-proclaim that we ‘get’ fashion. I for one, like this look. As do a lot of other people, as the comments on this page show. If you were photographed at a party and put on a fashion site which gets a lot of hits, I’m sure there would be at least a couple of comments criticizing your outfit, simply because not everybody has the same taste. However that does not mean that you don’t ‘get’ fashion and the commentor does.

Saying something like “oh look the rich lady has no taste, but I DO! And my take on fashion is RIGHT!” seems incredibly naive and self-indulgent to me (as tempting as it sometimes is)

      • nahhhI disagree with you.

It is certainly subjective but ONLY to a certain extent.

At some point the “differential quotient” between the great fashionista and the average one is well considerable, dare I say the limit is infinity.

There is a reason why many consider Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly or Jackie O fashionistas – women who GET and imbibe fashion. In their case it is a “calculus question” with only one answer…

No this is not an opinion, it is a fact. At some point there is a difference and while differences can be celebrated at some point you have to recognize that there are average fashion conscious people and people who live, breathe and yes GET fashion.

There is no “we” here . “I” don’t think it is presumptuous or indulgent or naive of me to think I am Audrey Hepburn incarnate.
I will stand out in a crowd. You could think me arrogant as hell though ;-)

  6. I like the dress and her shoes. She looks good. Because the dress is so busy, I would have preferred if she had carried a simple black clutch. I cannot stand anything monogrammed by any designer, especially LV

  7. For once she actually does justice to the clothes she wears. And must praise this girl for covering up even with her good figure. Most rich girls with a decent figure would consider it the perfect excuse to not cover up.
