On An Aside: Doing The Media Rounds
Before attending the pink carpet premiere of ‘The Pink Panther 2’, Anil spent the day making an appearance on the Today show, go over to the Live with Regis and Kelly show and then make an appearance again on the 4th hour of the Today show.
Catch a snippet of him playing ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ with the original host, Regis Philbin here. Also, catch two clips of him while on the Today show inside (The second one has him dancing with host Hoda Kotb to ‘Jai Ho’ while Kathy Lee watches).

I couldn’t watch the regis clip for more than a minute…I kind of felt embarrased because anil wouldn’t stop swinging his leg.
Thanks for posting this!
He is great in his interviews. So proud of him.
he was a real sweetheart..looks great too
does this guys ever age?!?! he’s like our indian version of dick clark! very dapper here. loving the striped suit!!!
@annie – I couldn’t stop laughing..he is swinging his leg wayyy too much.
On the plus side, the suit is nice. Did he forget to shave?
Awww I thought Anil was charming.
I saw all of it and it was great! I’m not embarrassed by his excitement, I’m thrilled for him. Of all the people in Bollywood he was probably the last one to think that he would’ve been this recognized internationally. He better enjoy it while he can! And everywhere Anil’s been American/International media have loved and adored him for his enthusiasm and excitement. I’m proud for him. He’s one of the few who has gone on interviews and explained the meanings of Indian terms and traditions where as some people dodged the questions or couldn’t answer them correctly (i.e. Aishwarya Rai).
Woo, didn’t mean to write a thesis here! :-P
I am so happy for Anil! He is charming and spoke very well. I am happy to see that excitement in him.
I’m glad Anil is enjoying himself. But based on comments I heard Americans are laughing at him not with him – he is now known as the ‘crazy’ Indian guy. He needs to dial it back a notch.
Yes, he is super excited, but people are loving him for it. It seems so sincere. I am so thrilled for him. And he looks great.
Anil did very well…most importantly he was being himself, which is great!
tnx for posting the videos.
I actually liked his interview(s). He looked very charming.
You should see Aishwarya when she talks with her fake accent.
It was funny that he did his 80’s movies’ moves in “jai ho” song….it was nothing like how they dance to jai ho….
I guess he was so excited he just blanked out and did what he has done for “30 years”….but he was defn. sweet and charming, and artciculate too…
Anil Kapoor has done Indians proud.
He does an admirable job in how he depicts Indians and our traditions/values. I suppose non-Indians will have more than just yoga and spices from India to like…perhaps for once, we won’t get snubbed as just having to play the computer nerds/engineers or the Kal-Penn types who just smoke up and get high.
Anil brings with him an enormous dynamic of Indian pride and tradition.
Great job! He’s always been my favourite hero…from the get go…
Hey guys, it was just the leg swinging that made me turn off the video. Other than that, i think anil has been great in all his interviews. I love his excitement, and i’m sure there is nobody else in bollywood who would be comfortable talking about indian culture without worrying about their “image”
@ nieha: I liked what you said. I’m happy to see Anil having so much fun out here. So what if he looks like a kid in a candy shop? Atleast he’s being totally genuine and not affecting his accent or trying to be a sell out. He’s my fav too. :)
I was not a very big Anil fan back in those days but I really like him now. Love his suits and body (he may not be a 6 feet – 6 pack but he looks very natural). Best of all he does not fake his accent. Love the way he explained the red thread and the parry pauna (touching the feet of elders)
Anil is a rockstar!! It’s wonderful to see someone have so much fun…No wonder he still looks 35!! The Fountain of youth lies in his attitude- his cheerfulness.
i like that he’s being genuine. he’s a nice guy and deserves his success. i do have one tiny complaint. i wish that he would wear a goatee instead of a moustache.
On the Today show..Kathy looks like she’s left out..check out her expression when Hoda dances with Anil on Jai ho.
i agree with everyone.. i LOVE anil for BEING HIMSELF.. hes just so cute and adorable.. who could tell he has a 23 year old daughter? and i also agree that he never seems to age lol..
he has definitely done indians proud, not just in india but indians world-over.. his dance was so cute too!
[[[ps – remember aishwarya’s sari-tying on oprah?? lol]]]
oooh he is such a sweet heart love him
OMG. I nearly died laughing at the dance part, that was just too awesome for words. He is simply great. Very likable guy.
its good he got people laughing.. and didnt put a fake accent.. but his leg swinging was embarassing..though the camera seemed to not focus on it eventually..
I agree with you all that ANIL is just super super nice. I loved him for being himself, and best of all he was NOT FAKE, and NOT APOLOGETIC about being an Indian. He explained Indian customs with so much dignity (remember Ash comments on David Letterman about Indians living with their parents so they dont have to make appointments for dinner with them).
Anil makes me proud. She made me wanna hide my face.

Thanks so much for the links. I thought Anil absolutely ROCKED! I can’t think of any other star who would better represent India and Bollywood to western mainstream audiences. He is completely unaffected or intimidated. The sort of excitement and warmth that he has exuded in all his interviews has been refreshing and lovely to watch. I think Indians all over can learn a lot from his childlike wonder and joyful state!! Bravo!
He has always been one of my favorite actors, and today I am so very happy to see him recognized for his work, and to see him rocking his interviews and looking so good while doing it. He truly deserves it.
