In Sabyasachi

Alia attended the Reel Movie awards on Tuesday evening wearing a red Sabyasachi sari with kundan earrings from the designer’s jewellery label.

She looked nice but do we have to keep wearing Sabyasachi saris with a middle-parted low bun?

  1. Yeah so his creations can hog all the limelight and make the person wearing it planar so his designs look good on all. I can imagine his designs wen worn with loose flowy hair.. looking not as elaborate and detailed. Also I feel like sabyasachi designs age a person in overall look.. like aliya looks 35 here. (Not a bad thing but she’s not 35 yet)

  2. I can just imagine the sari arriving with the stylist with printed instructions. WARNING: TO BE WORN ONLY WITH MIDDLE-PARTED LOW BUN. SARI WILL SELF DESTRUCT IF ANY OTHER STYLE ATTEMPTED.

  3. If she had gone for a simpler earrings and a simple bindi I would have liked this look. These oversized danglers don’t work here.

    • but thats not how you wear a Sabya …well, if you do wear a Sabya wiwthout the signature look its a sign that you actually are a pleb who can somehow afford a Sabya but deep down you are and will forever be a pleb..unless you are on the it list that gets the getup with Sabya memo

      • LOL.

I have so much Sabya fatigue now that I went and looked at his old stuff to see if it was good and nope that was faux elegant too. Right timing and he became covetable in an age of money and display.

  4. Looks like the pretence is over and she is openly copying Deepika’s style. I know Sabya and his styling is not restricted to Deepika but even Alia’s posing and demeanor is like Padukone’s.

  5. I think this is a missed opportunity. Alia is cute and chirpy. Sabya’s saree needs a bit of oomph. Falls flat here. Maybe if she tried a retro look with hair and make, saree will be more becoming on her.

  6. Iam so sorry to say this but she really gives a ‘copying deepika’ vibe here. A few awards, and a sanjay leela bhansali film and she feels she is deepika? Please alia stick to your own style

  7. 40 years ago my mother wore “Hakoba” saris that looked like this. Move on sabya. This looks like a little girl playing dress up.

  8. I don’t know what it is, and I have tried so hard but I just can’t seem to appreciate alia’s style. To me she always like a little girl playing dress up with her mother’s clothes. Especially in Indian wear. I just don’t think she pulls things off.
