Aishwarya Rai on HiBlitz India Oct 2010
————————–
Sabyasachi’s couture collection was just beautiful and it’s no surprise to see it being snapped up right away for an editorial featuring Aishwarya. Parisian Love Affair is the theme and pooch aside, looking forward to what the rest of the spread will look like.
P.S. That is an LV Fall 2010 bag on her.

Egaddddd! Horrible. Forced. Ugly. She and the yorkie look similar with frizzy fur! Ash looks like a goddess as usual. The styling and costumey clothes not appealing at all. The bag is an obvious brand sponsor shoved in. Terrible! How lovely she looks when not tampered with layers.
Disagree. I think Aish is a beautiful on the cover. It is very romantic with a touch of boho. LIKE.
Agree that the bag is out of place but I guess they gotta do what they gotta do.
This photo shoot is horrible and unnecessary exposing…..
NOT AT ALL!! Stunning gypsy boho look. Never tryin too hard still gorgeous. Just Love these pics. Very different very lovely… Something about her thats utterly exotic!!!
Absolutely disagree. The photo shoot is classic and a refreshing change. and stop being a prude with ‘exposing’ comment seriously…
It is aesthetically shot photo-shoot and glad they have changed up Ash a little bit.
i completely agree. Ash looks stunning and the shoot beautifully showcases the collection
Sabyasachi was boring me for a little while there …but this couture collection collection is saying somthing new – Ash looks fabulous on the cover and yes, when promoting a designer why over shadow it with a LV bag????
Can’t wait to see the rest of the editorial though!
I think one Ms. Vidya Balan would have to be blamed for the boring impression more than Sabya himself :)
Anra i don’t think that LV is overshadowing it i mean come on the dress is so rich in colour and texture that i dont thnk so ny one will look at LV first.Nice to see something Indian on d Cover of a Magazine
OMG! Ash looks heavenly…
Just back from watching Robot, what a film. Loved all the costumes in the film. Amazing, amazing film. Everyone should watch it. Yes, MUST-WATCH!
AGREED! She was a stunner in Endhiran(Robot).
JFYI.. her costumes were designed by Manish Malhotra ..
the man u all love to loathe here !!
HAHAHAHAHAHA! well spotted!
and no, i dont like “costumes” in endirhan judging by the promos.
Of course, its MM. Duh! I love his designs in movies. It relates better in reel life than real. :)
Ya Endhiran (Robot) is a totally must must watch movie ! Saari English filmon ki chutti kardhi in terms of special effect. And Ash looked gorgeous in it.
I like!! the boho element in this outfit is totally suiting ash
Agreed! Its different and it works.
omdz mrs bachan looks fab! But cant help to think this reminds me slightly of the kangana hiblitz cover a few months back
I would have loved it without the headgear and the LV. What is with covers and LV handbags!!! So out of place, atleast its not monogrammed. It should have been either the headgear or the choker.
Love the dress on the runway, even the topi.
Lovely..cant wait to see the rest of the spread
She looks stunning!!! And I love the LV too…
As much as i like that dress or watever, there is too much going on… with the bag and the dog.
i like the theme….like the ensemble…but not in this pic. not on Aish. She is not wearing it with “edge”
Wondering how the rest of the spread looks like!
Also…what is really so Parisian about the theme? I have never seen people mixing prints like this in Paree.
A lot of people dress in quite a bohemian manner in Paris, actually. It isn’t all black and basic. :)
In fact they do!!! layers of blacks/grays/whites with self colored or contrasted texture.
Been there a number of times….never seen such explicit textures/vibrant colors/details even in the local “bazaar”…
if there was no mention ..I would have never guessed that “Parisian Bohiemian ” was the inspiration behind the line.
i agree with reve…no one in Paris dress up like this, their dressing sense is very western not at all bohemian or Persian….and its not even Persian style that is portrayed in the pictures i would have never guessed it either!! apart from all that this spread is inspired a lot from the September 2009 issue of hi blitz.
oh my god….jawdrop beautiful.i was never a fan of ash but this one I am speechless.love the styling and the outfit
She looks gorgeous! Absolutely breathtaking!Hi Blitz almost always comes up with beautiful covers…unlike other magazines which lack originality and creativity.
Saw Endhiran…completely in love with Ash!
Yea. She rocks in the movie. Beauty thy name is Aishwarya.
she is enviously beautiful
Okay, am sure LV has a contract with all these mags to feature one of their bags/ or a collection on the cover.
That’s the only explanation to this contrasting eye sore, or even the out of place luggage in Priyanka Chopra’s Filmfare (?) cover.
This is definitely one of my favorite covers in recent times. It’s got an old-world romantic charm to it, and Aishwarya looks very majestic and muse-like. The clothes are interesting, intricate and editorial-worthy, and the overall aesthetic (grumpy pup included) is lovely. On an aside, there seems to be a return to a more classically beautiful aesthetic – with a whimsical twist, of course – in fashion magazines these days; for instance, the “W’ cover with Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling, or the Vogue editorial with Carey Mulligan.
WOW WOW WOW!!!
she looks fabulous!! loooove the headgear especially! so elegant and beautiful!
very very beautiful ash , very very ugly dog
i agree! should have picked a better dog!
so mean… that pooch is choo cutteeee… ookie pookie…
P&P why my comments are always waiting moderation????
Wow she looks absolutely STUNNING!!!!!!! Gorgeous gorgeous face, I can’t get my eyes off her face to look at the clothes!!! Love it
reminds me sooo much of kangana’s victorian era cover..same color scheme etc..actually preferred kangana to aish here
True
I just hate the bushy hair because that looks so much like mine in the morning… *shudder*
One cover of Aishwarya’s that I do like. Or is the clothes doing all the talking? Hmmm….
What a beauty! Gorgeousness. Love the way they kept the body real and no photoshop on it.
PS: What happened to the earlier 3 comments that i spotted earlier.. where someone has mentioned very very beautiful ash and ugly ugly dog..hmmm…
I get the idea…dreamy bohemian girl roaming the streets of Paris(??) But what’s with the pup and that pose! I would have liked a walking or standing pose. Just the business and eccentricity of her outfit contrasting with the gray streets of Paris.
GORGEOUS. SHE IS AN ENIGMA. WEN THE WHOLE WORLD IS GOING IN ONE DIRECTION SHE DARES TO GO THE OTHER WAY N MAKE HEADS TURN. BRAVO ASH.
i know she totally has my respect for not pandering to the ubiquitious size zero syndrome and flaunting her curves. finally someone real women can look up to.
With a face like that who the hell needs a size zero bod?
Oh and please dont steal the stylist’s credit for giving Aish such a goddamn chic makeover! We all know how Ms. Rai dresses in real life! :P
hehehe!! the pup looks pissed!
she looks fab!! love her expression! i think the basic idea of the cover is that she’s roaming the streets of Paris and found a lost puppy!! :P
yes thats what it is…and thats what happened in real!
Her hair looks like my kamwali bai’s back in India 6 years ago…….I don’t like her raised eyebrow pose in every picture……for the clothes itself I somehow like the runway look but on the cover its tooo busy to separate at a glance…….
oops!!! her body looks so unflattery(even after the photoshop)…love the face but i dont like the cover…the look of the dress is ruined because of this pose!!
you are a Ash hater anyway :).
totally agree Uumema…the pose neither does justice to her nor to the clothes.
i dont know why, this is not cover worthy. it looks a bit awkward. maybe because that cute pooch doesnt want anything to do with ash. i can tell she’s not a dog person. i prefer the top half, but i believe she’s sucking in her cheeks.
Wow Aish looks amazing!! I love it!
Parisian ??
it looks more persian than parisian and that dog’s leash is such an eyesore along with that ugly bag.
love love love. the picture is so palpaple. a beautiful bohemian girl in the streets of paris with a dog. the air so chilly n crisp. everyone who has a heart falls in love wid this girl.
why did they pose her like that? looks like she is sitting in a bloody zebra crossing.
the clothes are, sorry to say, hideous. the red fabric looks like a sofa threw up on a purple kameez.
are those velvet roses in her hair? oh dear.
I think she looks absolutely gorgeous and the yorkie just takes this shot up 10 more notches. Hehehehehe.
The best cover of ash to come out in recent times…Stunning !!…Kangana’s look(whatever that is) cannot hold a candle to this one. .
the dog looks upset and the look in her eyes is very cold, but must say she looked really nice in robot dance sequences with crazy costumes!
Just loved the outfit…after all it is Sabya…..Ash looks beautiful tooo
love the look, so different, eclectic. i would not have missed the bad… or the dog… like how Ash looks. different.
Ash looks breathtakingly beautiful. Very real and earthy. For me, even though I am a fan of Sabya, his clothes are more editorial and shine better in pictures. Coming back to Ash, she looks heavenly.
this is the prettiest she has looked.
u must credit the stylist, hair and makeup artist and photographer!
This is the best ever editorial of ASH!! Once again just simply WOW!! She has such raw expressions in every single pic..here is one editorial where clothes/accessories are not the focal point..its all come together..that’s how fashion should be..it should become part of your own personality!!
LOVE.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN! How does she manage to look so ethereal? Love love love her!
the cover pic looked different & nice, but for the other pics – i felt they kind of looked cheap with the unnecessary exposing…
Well, she doesn’t have an on-your-face boobs..so even the exposing doesn’t look tacky or cheap, imo.
I agree with Adara. You don’t always have to cover up every inch of your skin to be classy. This kind of exposing is hardly voyuerisitic or cheap, its more sensual and and eclectic and it goes fabulously with the bohemian/ parisian vibe of the shoot.
Besides the conservative, classy vibe is not the only route to go- there’s whimsical, risque and downright outrageous, all of which can work if the star has the right attitude and body language (and the audience isn’t too close-minded). At the end of the day, she *is*a drop-dead gorgeous movie star, not a grandmother!! There’s no reason why she should go for covered up looks all the time!!
thats truly well said!
i wish some ppl wud stop getting their sleeves all rolled up at any given opportunity.., and just take it easy!!
if completely covering up is wat one’s luking for, i think sabya does a bedding and upholstery range and if someones blogging about them, and if the featured cot that gets draped by it has a name, those who wish can go worship and drool over it at the same time for being ‘modest and sophisticated’ :P LOL
Oh my. Oh my. Goregousness exemplified, Ash is. Love the first and the 3rd shot.
The Cover picture is nice, so are the clothes. Somehow the rest of the pictures don’t look that great
i have to admit that being an ash fan since God knows how long, I have found myself effortfully liking a few of Ash’s looks off late..
but this spread has jus made me fall in luv! She looks phenomenal.. Ash apart, THIS is what good styling and creativity looks like!
I just can’t bring myself to like any of these pictures…Idk why.
But at least its different than her other photoshoots!
Whats with the peekaboo bra?
Well, it is an editorial. The whole point of a fashion editorial is that looks featured don’t have to be practical or play be any ‘rules’. The bra doesn’t look cheap or in-your-face, it just adds another quiet, dreamy layer to the bohemia they have going, dontcha think?
I love this shoot – each picture tells a story, and the styling is fantastic. And of course, Ash looks stunning!
I adore this cover, its so non-generic, and I love that it subscribes to a very global kind of bohemian-ness but still doesn’t lose its ethnic/ Indian identity. When will Indian designers/ stylists learn that they have a potential fashion gold mine on their hands? Fusing traditional Indian fabrics/ embroidery/ drapes with elements of the global catwalks that are ‘in’ right now is such a fast way to stand out. (Like Sabya and this spread proves)
You have a way with words and i am nodding all the way through your excellent comment. :)
I completely agree!!
Damn you ThaiExpat!!!! :P
LOL
Agreed!
This woman is just WOW!
Aishwarya = Awesome.
The look kind of reminds me of Vidya’s in Paa (which makes sense as Sabya styled that too) THe LV kind of detracts from the clothes. But she looks stunning and love that she played with her hair a little.
In the 2nd picture she seems to be stirring some coffee. Its a wierd pose. As if she is squeezing her chest with her arms to create a cleavage.
It reminds me a lot of Rani’s shoot in a bra and skirt. That was also Sabya’s clothes. So he probably likes seeing bras in magazines.
in the first two photos she reminds me of Marion Cotillard from Inception. anyone else agree?
She is absolutely beautiful!! Stunning pics, love the styling, make-up, everything! The pic where she is sitting at the coffee table is to die for!!
I love it!! So lovely ..except for the cleavage in the 2nd pic…….looks so forced!!
mmmmmmmm brining a little bohemia to Paris. However, this editorial is not captivating as I thought it would be – she looks sincere but bored….perhaps it is time to leave the modelling to the younger generation eh?
The world is just too saturated with Ms. Rai.. ..
That’s rather ageist. You might think the spread is boring or that she can’t pull it off, of course, but saying that modelling should be left to the “younger generation” is hardly constructive or open-minded. Cindy Crawford is rocking Vogue India’s cover, Helen Mirren still photographs like a dream, and Julianne Moore’s provocative Bulgari spread is ubiquitous. One might argue about the aesthetic success of a certain editorial or shoot, but age has nothing to do with it.
its a fantastic spread…. very well styled and very well captured.
Ash looks beautiful but she is never edgy enough (as much i would like her to be)..its more like clothes are wearing her.
trying hard to think who would have rocked this editorial.
sabyasachi couture looks like this???
epic fail! clothes are bland and coming from sabya, a bigggg disappointment
Lovely boho collection yes, but isn’t Ash looking a tad too tired, and a lot fat in this? Even in Endhiran/Robot, she looks a bit old, a lot old actually. Aging is a great process but she doesn’t seem to be aging gracefully. And she is considered one of the most beautiful women.
A bit disappointing, no?
Never seen her styled this way before, gorgeous!!! She carries everything off so elegantly!
