In Oscar De La Renta

Comment image 82

For the photocall of Jazbaa, Aishwarya picked a strapless Oscar De La Renta and here again, more than the gown, the rich color was what worked in her favor. The maroon gown and the matching lip just enhanced her beauty a thousand fold. She looked smashing!

If there was one thing we’d change or wish was different, it would be that exposed mesh back on the bustier.

  1. Oh my god !!! This had me doing a double twke.
She looks beyond gorgeous. Stunning !!
Sonam, watch and learn. This is how you make a statement.
Ash looks absolutely diva-esque even though this gown is quite generic….her overpowering presence should be credited for that.

    • There is nothing for sonam to watch and learn here. They are both very beautiful women with their own individual sense of fashion. Aishwarya likes to play safe and sonam likes to have fun and risks with fashion. Whats the fun in watching them if they all look fashionably same. So keep calm and stop comparing :)

All of a sudden there is a lot of hate/scorn for Sonam on HHC from the commenters. Like you said, Sonam likes to take risks and have fun with clothes and dressing up. And nine out of ten times, her looks + dressing knocks it out of the park.

      • Sonam is no way anywhere close to Aishwarya in terms of beauty. Aishwarya can wear a garbage sack and look better than the best look Sonam can come up with.

        • COMPLETELY agree! And the irony is that Sonam called Aishwarya “aunty ji” or whatever. Talk of arrogance without experience!

Sonam can only copy. Like even when it comes to wearing stuff “at the races”, Aishwarya has NO comparison. Sonam in fact ends up looking frumpy in an attempt to copy Aish. (Have a look at Aish at the Royal Ascot. REGAL is the word!)

P.S. Aish is working the colour here like nobody’s business. She could literally kill, man! And in fact I would kill to look like her at her age. The colour of her hair is only complementing the colour of the dress. Can anybody even say she’s a mom? Magnificent is her middle name. <3

        • Totally agree. Her beauty is her USP. I don’t think even it’s worthwhile comparing Sonam with Aish. Based on looks, Aish will always be light years ahead. This gown is definitely bordering Prom but she looks wonderful in it.

      • This year Cannes says ‘fun’ and ‘risks’ don’t always work. Aishwarya fared far better than Sonam. Aishwarya got game!!

  2. I CANNOT GET OVER HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE LOOKS! the color of the dress +her hair and make up= perfection. stunning!

This may be too fancy for a photocall but she looks amazing!

  3. You are right, the black mesh doesn’t look right.
Hair has been the same throughout Cannes. Would have loved to see something different.
As for the gown, waist up, she looks flawless.

  4. the color of the gown, Hair, Makeup its all Fab.. But the Gown itself.. hmm.. its giving me an itch to go n trim those random piece of cloths hanging in the gown. its so distracting and comletely unnecessary.

  5. she is beautiful, we know ! thats not a revelation. but look at her dress, i cant believe its her 14th time at cannes. she has such pathetic, cheap fashion sense. just imagine if Kat or sonam had worn this, u guys would’ve ripped them apart. i think Katrina deserves a collective apology from all those who bashed her.

    Reply
    • Hello UM, So on the behalf of this entire universe I offer you the biggest apology that everyone bashed up the biggest star ‘Katrina’. Hoping now you will stop posting your requests for apology on every Aishwarya post. And Poor ash may have a ‘Cheap/Pathetic’ Fashion sense, yet she makes everything work with her poise, grace and beauty. Aishwarya probably should imbibe ‘Rich/Fabulous’ Fashion sense from ‘Crystalline’ Katrina.

      Reply
    • ROFLMFAO at “collective apology”. Katrina was a horror show at Cannes and deserved to be shunned, so that she may come up with something better next year.

Aishwarya was an absolute stunner and wore good clothes and needs to be acknowledged.

    • This. It is her looks that is salvaging her appearance. Every dress she wore is worse than what Katrina wore. But people like to hate on Katrina/Sonam for reasons I will never understand. I think it is seasonal. Hatred targets keep changing.

      • Hate?
I think if you look at close up pics of all three – sonam, katrina and aishwarya, you can easily see why people gush over ash
Sonam close ups in the blue ralph & russo are beyond scary

    • Common! On this very forum, we had criticised Ash a number of times for her horrid sense of dressing when she wore those pathetic anarkalis. It’s unfair to say we r biased. It’s just that this time she has had a good run despite her clothes r being not so great. Let’s give it to her where it’s due.

  6. While she looks beautiful here, if we talk about fashion and styling, there is nothing great about the dress nor the meh hair styling.

  7. Im awestruck! ! This woman’s getting gorgeous by the day…!!! Btw she always has this gold bangle…I guess its her wedding bangle kinda thing or lucky charm..its kinda cute that she never takes it off….

    Reply
    • It’s a Bengali traditional bangle ” Loha” worn by ALL married women, usually gifted at the time of marriage by the in-laws… Given her Bengali MIL, no wonder she never takes this off!! ;) :P

      Reply
    • yep! that’s her wedding bangle (called “loha”), worn by bengali women. i think it’s quite impressive that she always has it on no matter where she is or what outfit she has on, considering that even regular bengali women (most of them) don’t wear the bangle on a daily basis any more!

  8. WOAH. Oxblood/Maroon/Deep red is her color!!! She looks absolutely ravishing. THIS is how one makes a statement on an international platform.. no theatrics, excessive makeup, or elaborate gowns.. just simple, clean and fresh. I’m in LOVE.

For all those complaining about her hair and lip color.. it probably remained the same because of the brand she endorses.. he hair looks just like what we see in those total repair 5 commercials.. and I for one, don’t mind it at all.. i’d kill for that hair! I thought the Elie Saab one was knockout.. this is even better! *tips hat*

    • Thank you! You are the first to point out this very important aspect that people have missed from this look.

Yes she looks stunning, yes her make up is flawless and she is very very beautiful. But the way the top part of the gown is fitting around her body reminds me of cake mix in the oven.

  9. My God this woman is every bit Miss World even today, and she knows it! Aishwarya looks incredibly well put together – hair, makeup, gown, pose, expression – all of it! Looks like she reserves most of her ensembles for offshore soirees! Not that I’m complaining though!

  10. i don’t care how many risks sonam or anybody for that matter takes! What works is always the look and feel. One might wear a plain white cloth, but if it makes them looks gorgeous then that’s what works! This festival, Aishwarya scores purely by her presence, personality and elegance. She is making even the most simple look work for her. Whereas Sonamdrspitw taking risks is unable to deliver. That’s ok! Better luck next time Sonam. This year is not yours. And hey, Kat looked fabulous in the Red dress despite everything being wrong with it. This style!

  11. When you are a movie star, the clothes do not wear you, you wear the clothes.

The gown really is very ordinary. It is she who stands out!

  12. I die!!!! She looks every bit the Bollywood Royalty that she is… Totally agree with a commenter above — fashion is finding what works for YOU and YOU ALONE!!!

  13. I think Ash could wear a sack and look good. This gown is so average and has a prom like feeling to it which I don’t like but ash puts life into this gown. It is criminal to look this good. Also, like Sonam, Ash is overdressed here. This for a photo call? She could have saved this for the red carpet. For those comparing the two, I think we shouldn’t. I have equal excitement about what Sonam is going to wear and about how Ash is going to look. I am sad that Frieda is not there this year. I think they all represent India very well. Ash looks smashing for 40…I hope I look 3/4th as good when I turn 40.

  14. If there ever was a mortal that could launch a thousand ships, it has to be Aishwarya. I do not see anything high fashion here, but I guess that’s the point. She can slay even in the most ordinary outfits. You are a national treasure Ash!

  15. Neck up she is flawless as always. The gown on the other hand looks nothing like the usual oscar de la renta and more like a Jade copy that Madhuri Dixit wore to filmfare awards(blue one)!! Could be identical. Nothing expensive looking about the dress apart from the colour. and compared to Katrina’s De la renta this is just tacky looking. I cant understand why her stylist has been giving her one mediocre dress after another or did the designers not know who she was getting the dresses for?? Surely dressing Aishwarya Rai at Cannes is a huge deal so why then are her clothes so not worthy of the event she’s at?? It annoys me that someone as beautiful as Aish hasnt had that dramatic Wow outfit to match her looks.

  16. I honestly dont believe that this woman won Miss World in 1994!!! and she looking like this TODAY! This is what you really call beauty! A long lasting beauty, she is making India proud. Best appearance at Cannes 2015. You ever just see a pic and can look at it on and on and on, this is it.

  17. She is slaying it… that color looks sensational on her. That last pic of hers is giving me life. Her make up game has been on point at Cannes this year.

  18. Wow! What a stunning color! Her hair looks so good also but I hope she changes it up for other appearances, it’s been same past 3 looks.
I’m guessing it’s a loreal lipstick, anyone know which shade?

  19. Firstly can everyone please stop the amazement at how someone can look good at 40?! I am 39 and in the best shape of my life with two kids one of whom is a teen! So please stop the patronising

Secondly the colour is gorgeous. But other than that her hair and make up is almost the same for 3 events now. The dress is totally outdated . Can someone please chop out the ruffles feathers and nonsense from the Indian wardrobe please .

    • Just because you ‘think’ you are in the best shape of your life, does not mean the commentators should stop appreciating Aishwarya and her beauty at her age. I dont think this is a comparison between you and her or with anyone else for that matter. If we can trash her for dressing badly, it’s only fair that we compliment her when she looks good.

      Reply
      • It’s not about what I ‘think’ but the underlying assumption that at 40 you will suddenly grow horns! Jane Fonda looks even better than her at 70! Julianne Moore who isn’t a beauty queen looks equally amazing ..The list goes on. Nowadays even laywomen look great past 40 let alone screen icons. Ash is a beauty no doubt added by a lot of facilities most of us just read about but her personal style is lacking .
Take this appearance – stunning colour and gorgeous face that she is.. Oxblood prom dress for a daytime photocall aboard a yacht in broad daylight ? Really ?

    • Hahaha patronizing??

  21. The makeup and the color is perfection. Whereas the gown in itself is very unflattering. the skirtbpart of it should have been higher n it wld have looked amazing . The lower skirt part or whatever technical term it is makes her look round . the dress is 2 size too small n looks like she can’t breathe.
And as for sonam she is trying too hard to get noticed . she is getting noticed but for all the wrong reasons. She looked desperate this Cannes . Hope she recovers next year by not wearing ” costumey” clothes. The black one looked straight out of Mahabharat sets.
Katrina kaifs red dress made me confused as to where the dress ended n red carpet started. Red hair ,red carpet n red dress not good.

  22. No doubt Aishwarya looks super gorgeous. What a beautiful face . The colour makes her even more ravishing. The dress however is very mediocre. The ruched long bodice looks straight out of a 90s Madhuri dixit movie . Bad

  24. Holy fox, she looks INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! I agree with peeps above that the dress is very prommy stock-type, but the make up, the hair, accessories are perfect! Love the lip colour.

Why should’nt people gush about her beauty and age?
Who else from indian cinema is relevant at an international platform for beauty products, that too at age 40?
Umm nobody except the beautiful Aishwarya!

  26. the dress looks like it has been photoshopped on her body. no doubt she looks very pretty, but something is wrong with the way it is fitting on her body.

  27. Like her hair a lot but the dress and the fitting are bad. Also I feel like Indian actresses (whether Sonam, Kat or Aish) have this non casual ice maiden (not having fun) vibe to them which makes it hard to really like them on the red carpet at Cannes. Compare this to Julianne Moore or Eva L. and you will see what I am trying to say.

  28. she looks gorgeous but the gowns seems to be too tight for her. Look below her armpit from the back. She is squeezed in that dress.
