In Ali Younes Couture

For her first outing on the Cannes red carpet, Aishwarya picked an embellished Ali Younes Couture gown that featured a matching embellished cape. Wearing her hair down, the gorgeous L’Oréal ambassador finished out her look with way over the top blue-toned eye make-up. The shimmery, nude gown delivered on drama and glamour but when it didn’t photograph well, boy did it not. Bit of a bummer that! Here’s hoping the next look is glitch free.

  1. No comment on the blue eye shadow? You have to be kidding me. The eye shadow was tasteless which is a shame because the dress wasn’t too bad.

  2. The hair and makeup belongs to a different outfit. With the cape providing so much drama the hair should have tied in a ponytail or low knot.

  3. Same ol same ol…somehow I my instincts were telling me she was going to wear gold…wanted her to experiment a bit..let’s see what else she has in her arsenal

  4. This look grew on me in a matter of hours. The more I look at her in this look, Aishwarya looks like a queen from The Huntsman movies. Hope she serves us something different next. She’s done this look a thousand of times. Gold gown, hair down. Praying for a grand couture gown.

  5. The gown is gorgeous and it looks fabulous on her. But a cape…WHY!! The cape hides the lovely gown and her fab curves. There are other sites which show her make-up up close and HCC pics does not. Her eye make up was a downer. There is nothing wrong with the color (blue) of the eye shadow but it’s just not blended in properly. She has beautiful eyes and did need that much blue at the corner of her eyes. I’m a little disappointed because Aishwariya’s Cannes appearances tend to be successful.

  6. No, I don’t think so. The eyeshadow was not tasteless, but rather dramatic and modern in an excellent way. Loreal did a great job with the makeup. She looks terrific.

  7. I was wondering why Aishwariya was making statements about not having time to choose her outfits etc. Now I know why! The makeup is really awful and the outfit is not flattering at all.

  8. I don’t like the blue eye shadow with this gown. The gown is beautiful and she looks lovely too, but I am a bit underwhelmed at her first outing. I was expecting her in a resplendent jewel tone, so this color was a bit disappointing.

  9. Not liking anything about this look. The blue eye shadow looks totally mismatched with the gown. The less said anout that gown the better. Any outfit that does not photograph well or gives the appearance of a tummy is a total no no.

  10. I am so tired of her stylist’s bad choices. Why would you pick a never heard of designer for an event the whole wold is watching ? This dress looks like an embellished sari nothing more. Bad fit and if she is expecting should have worn something more flattering. Would have loved to see her in Givenchy or then the safe Elie Saab or Zuhar Murad but afraid not. And tomorrow’s event will probably be worse given what her stylist put her in today. Neck up flawless as always.

  11. Maybe this will be Ash’s last year at Cannes. Why wear an unknown designer for this? She should have gone down the safe route and worn Ralph and Russo or even Cavalli. The embellishment on this gown is like a badly done sari and fit is not good. Every designer in the world must want to dress her and she picks this. Would have loved to see her wear the Versace Blake Lively wore. Alas not to be

  12. Has she stopped wearing her iron bangle? Haven’t spotted it on her since Sarbjit promotions. She could’ve worn an ArmaniPrivé like Julia Roberts, soft and flowy.

  13. I don’t like the harsh middle parting of the hair. The eyeshadow does not look blended in properly. Gold can look so amazing on her… just reminiscing about the gold one that she wore year before last. Overall dissappointed.

  14. How is this any different from her last outing at cannes?: gold dress plus blue eyeshadow. Its like the loreal france team, can’t find anything else to highlight apart from her blue eyes. As for this outfit, I like the dress, including the cape, just not sure it’s doing much for her. Love blue eyes with gold in general, but really it’s been done to death already for Aish at cannes.

  15. Woah!! I saw her pics in some other sites and thought she looked stunning but only now when I see the rest of the pics I find it to be terribly unflattering on her!! I guess, like you said ‘when it didn’t photograph well, boy did it not’!
On another note, I thought you guys might cover Preity Zinta’s reception in full but can’t find even one post on that.. Are you guys planning to cover it?

  16. One of those times you think woman just wear a Sabya sari, a bun with flowers and be simple and stand out. She is utterly beautiful and shines in Indian clothes and less make up. The gowns and make up and over processed hair is not needed at all.

  17. This gown has the propensity to wash the wearer out, but it doesn’t do so for her. She has brought in the perfect pop with that eye shadow and she looks sultry but I do feel that the entire look ages her a bit!

  19. She looks amazingly GORGEOUS!! This gown is subtly sexy with that deep neckline and the drama of blue eye shadow which breaks down the monotony. Perfect start to the Cannes. Aish *_*

  20. The dress is so blah! Also, I don’t see the point of wearing two Lebanese designers in a row. The Elie Saab was great, this dress is just plain blingy.
Only Aishwarya can look good in this mess though.
