Spotted Ms. Bachchan looking fabulous in a Sabyasachi outfit while on the Oprah show that’s scheduled to air this Monday (28th Sept) in the U.S.

Can’t wait to see full length pictures of the outfit. Oh, and the interview too! :p

Update: Added the promo video.

  1. like the cream pallu, is elegant. like the blouse sleeve length – this looks good on slim upper arms of ash, not flabby arms of some other women. like the modern twist that sabya’s done on the 50’s raj kapoor -nargis type movie saris, a breath of fresh air from those same tired ol chamkila-sleeveless blouse manish malhotra creations

  3. I am so glad she didn’t wear a manish malhotra or any of the ubiquitous sequined outfit so common these days. Also glad that she chose an Indian outfit.

  4. she looks awesome–and she wears the sari like it should be worn–hope certain other actresses(*cough priyanka cough*) would learn..
Ash makes me proud to be of Indian heritage

    • From what I know, Ms is technically correct. It can be used irrespective of the marital status. However, since we know that she has married a Bachchan, there is no confusion hence we might as well use Mrs Bachchan. Ms Rai is however, appropriate.
Sorry for all the lecture :-)

      • Many of this gen women prefer Ms. over Mrs. (and over Miss before wedding) in a professional setting (think about it…would you like to be introduced in professional atmosphere as Mrs. so and so or Ms. so and so). Also, women who don’t change their last name after marriage definitely want to be called Mrs. (think Miss Sharma the day before wedding and Mrs. Sharma the day after).

Addressing Ms. for women is the international norm in progressive countries, just like men don’t have to change from Mr. to Mrs. after wedding.

    • she did say that she planned on wearing a sari for her previous Oprah appearance but something about a luggage problem or timing problem made her wear the suit.

  5. She looks gorgeous, that’s nothing new. Am glad she’s wearing an Indian outfit instead of a gown or suit (like last time). I am starting to like Sabyasachi. Manish Malhotra’s work is too blingy and repeated.

  6. She looks beautiful!! I’m so glad she did not wear a Neeta Lulla creation.

I hope the rumours about their separation is true. Stick with Sabyasachi Ash.

  7. <3 <3 it!

But her pose in the second picture looks a lot like my grandfather’s, whenever he was about to let out a big one!!! lol…can’t stop laughing!

@pdaervo – I’m really surprised to find you’re not Indian, considering how religiously you follow the blog :)

  8. So the first here with this opinion-I don’t like it at all. The sari is bleh and the blouse is even worse. It’s on Aish so apparently it’s all awesome but had anyone else worn it I’m sure they would’ve gotten the beat down. She doesn’t look good at all IMO and the blouse it seems makes her look heavier then she is.

  9. s_star, this isn’t the same Sabyasachi she wore at the 2009 Filmfare awards.

She looks lovely here, but can’t credit the outfit to her good taste in clothes (I personally have never liked her off screen outfits). Sabyasachi was Mani Rathnam’s choice for Aishwarya’s clothes in Raavan and she seems to have taken a liking to the look she sports iin the film and is borrowing from it in real life. Her look at the Filmfare awards (tSabyasachi, simple make up, tied up hair, minimal jewellery) isn’t Aish at all! Mani’s leading ladies are always impecabably turned out and completely in character.

I love Sabyasachi. Ethnic and elegant and not Bollywood bling!

    • Agree, whether its Madhoo, Manisha, Rani or Aish they have looked their most beautiful in the simplest of ethnic sarees and make up in Mani’s films.

  14. Sabyasachi in an interview said he was designing looks for the movies Raavan (Ash and Abhishek starrer) and Guzaarish (Ash and Hrithik starrer). The positive side effect seems that Ash’s wearing him for her international appearances including IIFA and now Oprah! Love it!

  17. 1. i don’t think she really had to wear a sari for the occasion – it’s a talk show, not such a formal event.
    2. oh lord! please somebody help her with her shoe collection – she has the most ugliest pair of shoes on with that sari (if you’ve seen the video)
