In Gauri and Nainika

Comment image 17

Aditi went bright at the Vogue Beauty Awards wearing a halter neck Gauri and Nainika. Letting the yellow gown be the highlight of the look, she kept everything else on the simpler side but did a bit of a smoky under-eye.

She had me at the gown but what did you think of the look?

      • Agreed. To be fair though dark skinned desi women have been degraded for as long as we can remember, and it isn’t necessarily colorist to say that they can pull off certain colors/shades well, but celebrating darker tones shouldn’t come at the expense of bringing down light skinned women. Aditi looks nice.

        • +1000..thanku 4 saying dis..m fair skinned n dese days it hs bcum a trend to bash fair skin women! I Guess dis shade of yellow works on fair skin tone n Aditi luks pretty as usual!

          • I wouldn’t agree that fair skin ‘bashing’ is a trend as you imply, even if it was one we have to recognize the structural privilege that fair skinned women continue to have. Even if someone says they prefer darker skins, that view is still in the minority, and a fair skin woman will never be seen as sub-human or unworthy of marriage or job prospects in virtue of her lack of melanin. Anyway I don’t think this blog is the appropriate place to have this debate ;) We agree that Aditi looks great as usual :)

  1. Its just the color that is the talk factor, think the gown is quit a rip off when compared to the gucci gown that we have seen on bipasha and many other hollywood celebs

  2. One of Aditi’s underwhelming appearances. Usually she looks so ethereal and gorgeous – this somehow does not work for me.

  3. I love the colour, but maybe this would have looked better with a more silvery smokey eye. I’m liking the contrast of the nails though.

  4. Wish she’d skipped the smoky eye and kept the look simpler. Feels like a dissonance between the cheery yellow and all that dark eye.

  5. She looks great.. She usually has this heavy dose of ethereal-ness ( if that’s a word) going on.
And while she nails those looks each time, would love to see her do more of such chic/ neat/ contemporary looks.
